To stormtrooper or no

Hey all,

I currently have an alpine white hi kick trunk spoiler but have been recently contemplating painting/wrapping it gloss black to get a little more aggressive with the overall look of the car. I wanted to see what everyone's opinion is. Stick with the white or go for the black spoiler? I think I'll eventually wrap the roof and side mirrors in gloss black as well. And before anyone says it, no CF for me.

I've attached pics of my current setup.

Go for it! Also wrap your badges in the back to get rid of all the chrome.

Another suggestion is painted rear defectors. Its a small change but its makes a big difference: https://ind-distribution.com/product?sku=IND-F10-RREF

I actually just got those exact matched reflectors in and they will be going on this weekend!

I've thought about just buying replacement gloss black badges. They're only $20-$25 and save me the hassle of painting or wrapping these for nearly the same cost as well.

Do it! As an owner of 3 Alpine White stormtrooper'd BMWs, they'll look great.

I personally suggest wrapping the roof in gloss black as well. It's super easy and fun to do, and will make the car look even better

I say do it. Maybe darken your taillights while you're at it.

I did the even cheaper route which was plastic dip. It works perfect and its lasted years (on old car, only had this car for about 8 months)

Wheels are currently plasti dipped and it's been great so far. I prefer a very high gloss sheen so plasti duo wouldn't work for me on the badges.

I couldn't get my badges plastidipped as the dip wouldn't stick to the edges of the badge. It didn't stick to the badge very well at all despite a thourough cleaning. I let it dry for a few hours before going to cut/peel it off and it basically 'slid' off the emblem lol

I'd recommend cleaning the badges and then using rubbing alcohol on them before retrying to put down plastic dip.

I can give that a shot! I might also turn to wrapping them in carbon fiber. I got a huge roll to wrap my mirrors and have more than I need.

i always loved the 3d spoilers and hence why i have the carbon fiber version but there's guys here who have there's painted white like in your case and it looks pretty damn SICK! It's almost an in-between aggressive and non agressive look

here's mine!

you get the idea

I would need to remove the spoiler to properly plasti dip it and at that point I would probably just vinyl wrap it.

Looks like the majority are voting for the stormtrooper look.

I plan on wrapping my roof gloss black. I already have the spoiler, door handle trim, Rear Diffuser, I plan on adding a gloss black roof spoiler and arkym front lip to mine.

Then doing a Bilstein B16 Coilover system and I might be done with the looks or exterior of the car.

I was thinking about wrapping the whole car just cause it protects the car so I would do a satin pearl white wrap.

Nice! I currently have a Hamann front lip but I've been eyeing the Arkym as well. I think it's a nice balance on aggressive yet not overbearing.

In the same boat. Just got it to the body shop for painting. Could you let me know what size you are using for the 3M Tape. 1/2", 7/8", 1"?

1/2"

OP,
Here's a dry fit of mine, maybe it will help with your decision.

That does look good....

Mine is a high kick spoiler so it would definitely be more pronounced. Trying to find photos of a black high kick spoiler on a white F10 and I haven't had any luck

To see if you like it, just try using black tape and looking from a bit of a distance

Paint the spoiler BLACK! that Storm Trooper theme will look sick! Also, I'll have to find it but a forum member here wrapped his car in Satin White and it turned out SWEET!
