Bigger problem with the video (and race) is ...
According to BMW specs, the 535i does 0 - 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds not 5.0 as stated in the video and the 335d does 0 - 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds not 5.4 seconds as stated in the video. Big difference in real times and the reason why the 335d pulled away from the 535i.

Does the guy who shot this video work at ring toss on the carnival circuit? No offense but this video sucks
a station wagon beats a 535? i wont be buying a 5 series

Even less sense being made here. You can always find a cheaper car that will outperform a luxury sedan, but I want a luxury sedan primarily.

Everyone has a budget, if I had unlimited money i would probably get the 550i, but I even started looking at the 523i so i feel im getting a beast of car as it is.

I never cared for the 3-series, its just too small and looks insignificant next to most cars. Especially the estate.

Exactly. I buy the car i want to drive and enjoy and it makes little difference to me that aome othe random car can potentially outrun me. This thread could not be any stupider. 5 series is a sport luxury sedan as is 528 and 520 and for those who dont realisze that - go buy youself a 330d or subary impreza for instance. I smule every time when someone in a cheaper faster car tries to prove something to me and then spin their tires when i pull away.

My f10 535xi was not rendered useles when that video came out. It still is the best car i have ever owned and i did own several 5 series bmws.

What Is The Point Of Owning A 50k Slow Petrol Bmw? If You Cant Understand Why I Have A 335d Touring When A 535i Is The Same Price Then You May As Well Become A Lexus Owner.

Well, you seem to be very happy with your 335d, and you should be cause it's a great car.

But could you please stop bitching about your happiness and about this pointless video where a 335d apparently outruns an F10 535i?
No one cares anyway.

Unlike some (many?) I didn't buy this,my first BMW,with off-the-line speed in mind. And I won't buy the 5 Series diesel (if one ever arrives in North America) for that reason either. But the torque...which results in effortless acceleration..is very very cool.As is the 42mpg I easily get on the Interstate.

I Think its also important to point out the size difference in a 535 v 335. 335 is not much of a family car if everyone wants to have some room. I think its always important to realize that this huge array of cars BMW presents is so that people can make good buying decisions based on many factors not just one in their lives.

I Simply Posted A Video Relating To This Forum. Apparantly Some Do Care, Because They Reacted To It By Bitching At Me.

I Have Neither The Desire Nor The Energy To Argue With Every 535i Owner On This Board.

Funny, because besides the M models, regular BMWs have almost never been about raw power, but now suddenly even the regular BMW models are supposed to be all about raw power? Since when?

Anyways, what do both of these cars have in common? They'll both get the snot beat out of them by American V8 muscle for half the price and aren't really "fast" in the first place. Heck, my Toyota isn't too far off of these 0-60 times. If speed is what you want, what's the point of buying a 50k "slow" BMW whether its petrol or diesel? If speed is really what I wanted I'd just go buy a Camaro SS or a new Mustang GT 5.0, but since it isn't I'm looking forward to picking up a lowly N52 powered 528i prior to the end of the model year.

Cannot believe I am reading Toyota, CAMARO, FORD MUSTANG! On this F10 forum. WTF is this! Oy ve, no where to start except the BMW I buy in no way is even in the same atmosphere as the cars you mention. AS IF! I Need to find a new forum who the hell told the trailer park the web address? Later.

Hey delvek, I think you got it pretty wrong there. steVTEC was actually talking in favour of BMW. Like he wrote, BMW is more than a massive, heavy engine. If that's all I'm looking for there are plenty of alternatives. But if you're looking for power AND control there aren't as many alternatives.

Actually I was arguing in favor of all of the above. I know it might be difficult for some to fathom, but yes I would park an F10 BMW right next to a new five-oh Stang and a boring Japanese blandmobile, and enjoy and use each of them for completely different reasons and purposes. No matter what, you can never "have it all" in one car so I don't try to. My point is if you don't think there's any point to a $50k BMW that isn't "fast" then you probably don't have any appreciation for the classic BMW traits. Everybody is too obsessed with horsepower these days. Does every single car you own need to be running 13's in the 1/4 mile? No.

I remain convinced, the 550 is rivaled by none without forking over a large lump more. I had a 2008 535 before the F10 550 and I loved it, it sold me on BMW ... but for a few thousand more, the 550i was the end game for me.
Yes sir, i must say I concur!! Cheers!!

The 535i was an auto gearbox, they showed the stick for about 0,2 seconds, and that is stated as 6.1s on bmw uk.

Not to mention how stupid it makes one look when you make a video to prove something, that shows facts which are totally wrong.

Unless you claim bmw is totally wrong about their numbers, it would seem the 5-series driver didnt perform as well as the 3-series driver. They should do some more runs.
and change cars... i have 535i manual gearbox and would of smoked the 335d car and driver.

Yes i would agree, my first BMW is my current 535i F10 2011 manual 6 speed and love it, but I am looking to move up to the 550i or M5. I almost bought a 2008 M5 but saw the 2011 F10 at a great price. Now if and when the mod come out for the N55 that may change my mind.
