Hi all! New purchase with 6 months left of warranty .. what should I do?
Hi all,
Usually lease my vehicles, but came across a privately owned 2015 528i xdrive with 47k for a decent price. My mechanic looked at it and said it was fine. However, I'd like to have BMW do a bumper to bumper check The car is still under BMW warranty for another 7 months or 50k miles. How would you handle this? Sorry for the amateur question, but all I hear about is how the dealer looks for suckers like me IMG_4381 by anthony8858, on Flickr |

Get an extended warranty (before the BMW one ends). Its definitely worth it on these kinds of cars. Its a real gamble if you don't get one.
Example, right after I got the extended warranty, I noticed some oil leaking. Took it to the BMW dealer. They ended up keeping the car for 10 days, gave me a rental X3 and fixed the leak. The bill alone for that fix was how much the warranty costed me (around $3k). So the warranty just paid for itself. Last edited by Ickdeep; 04-29-2018 at 12:02 PM.. |

Id look over the car with a fine tooth comb. I bought my 2014 535i with 26k miles and went over everything with a flashlight. After taking off all under trays, I found that the oil pan gasket was leaking. Had I not removed the trays I wouldn't have noticed it and then have been responsible for the bill once the warranty ran out in Sept.

How do I get extended warranty?
Is it a third party? Or BMW? Im 60 years old and either leased new cars, or owned very old ones..lol My last project was a Jaguar that bled me dry! .. never again,. |

I got mine from the BMW Service Manager. Its actually not from BMW but it still works at BMW dealers. My warranty is from MAP (Motorist Assurance Plan)

Not to ask an already answered question here. But is there a special checkup that I can ask the dealership to perform. I'm the same boat, taking ownership of a 2015 535i with 29k miles in a few days and I'd like to just stop by the dealership and I'm just not sure what to ask them to do. A 30k mile checkup? Etc. First post. First bimmer. Any assistance would be appreciated. I plan to get the warranty, just want to know what to ask for in the interim.
