I will probably change from a F10 535i to a F82 M4 but not to a F30 335i. I feel like it is a big down grade interior wise going from the 535i to the 335i but I know that the M4 will make up for it with the power train.

i went from E92 335i to F10 535i and can say that there are some striking differences. Performance wise the E92 wins hands down with the lighter weight, nimbleness, and power/acceleration/braking power. BUT the interior of the 5 series has much better quality materials down to the plastics. Just depends on what you're looking for...

I've got a 535 in the shop now and received a 335 as a loaner. Very true statement as the car is waaaay lighter and more nimble but also feels (for a lack of a better word) cheap.

So, I went from a 335 to a 550. The 5 series is way more luxurious than the 3 series... granted I had an E90, but the F30 isn't much better IMHO. I made up for the power by getting the 550 versus a 535 - so not only is my 5 much more luxurious than my previous 335, but it's also quicker. If you get either the M Sport suspension or DHP on the 5 series, I think you'll find the handling is plenty good for road use.
All said, I won't be going back to a 3 anytime soon. I also found that you couldn't carry adults in the car... and squeezing people in the back seat was torture. The car always felt like it was one inch away from bottoming out if you carried 4 adults in it. I'd stick with a 5 - upgrade to a 550 if you want more power.
