I apologize if the thread I am about to start "winds folks up", BUT I am seriously tryng to get my mind right-specific to a new car. I've posted a thread that is similar to this before, but I'm going to try again.
1. I'll soon be "rotating" cars down to accomodate a new driver. As a result, I'm getting a car late this year/early next. 2. I want a sport/lux sedan 3. I love BMW fit/finish 4. I like horsepower made the old fashioned way-and am not enthralled with turbocharging-though I do like the torque numbers on the turbo 4.4. Currently, I'm between what may seem to be three quite different cars: 1. Infiniti M56 Sport 5.6L 420/417 and 68K loaded to the gills. 2. Mercedes Benz E63 (you know the stats) I'm worried that they will jump to the new 5.5L twin turbo before I am ready to order, in other words, a 2011 3. 550 M-Sport (you know the stats, but nobody knows when the M-Sport pkg is coming-completely ridiculous) I know that the pricing of 1 and 3 are within 8-9k, and the middle one is considerably more. The bottom line is that here in Texas, we don't take real kindly to turbochargers or govt healthcare. Convince me otherwise. Last edited by GarbageMan; 03-24-2010 at 07:41 PM.. The F10 is universally perceived as the best car in its class based upon recent reviews in the automotive press. I have driven a 5er for the last 9 years. They are fun to drive, fast, and robust. Maintenance is free. Euro Delivery is wonderful. I have driven my cars on the Autobahn at high speed up to 135 mph. At that speed they feel rock solid like you are going 65 mph. If issues arise which is rare, BMW takes care of it. They great cars by a great company. They are a great value. I'll never drive anything else.

As I alluded to above, I'm not necessarily questioning BMW quality. Quite frankly, my issue really is related to the desire to avoid turbos - (which I'm trying to get over). I know that technology today has eliminated many of the typical downsides associated with them. (I'm in a business that involves dealing with turbocharged engines; the area I manage contains over 600 of them.) I guess I'm just old fashioned. The way MB is still doing it (not for much longer), and Infiniti-is the old "no replacement for dispacement" method. In short, I'm anguishing over the same thing that many are with the move of the M division to turbo engines. I could not possibly care less about the fuel consumption. If gas goes to 3 or 4 dollars a gallon, that just means that there is more for me.
