Should I Have My Calipers Painted?

Have my car in the shop for m5 body kit conversion and it dawned on me that I can probably have them do my calipers for cheap while the work is being performed.

My F10 is rather unique in that it's cashmere silver with 21s and gloss black roof, and with the body kit, I am not sure:

a) if it would look cheesy to have them painted (not a BBK, obviously)

b) what color would work best (gloss black, some shade of red, yellow)

Really appreciate any thoughts you guys might have!

That's kind of what I am thinking, but then again, it's like ... what's the point? Yellow would be too weird, I think. But red, if it was the "right" red, might work.

Actually, what if I went with the RPI ram air scoops color and matched it to those?

I would go black just to clean them up a bit. I did mine black and added //M stickers between the paint and clearcoat. Will try to grab a pic for you.

I would also stick with black on your car, I don't think that you have any detailing that would tie in any other colours. Got mine in black, just tidies them up.

Here is a pic I just snapped. A little disappointed that they have started to chip, but here it is.

Another vote for black. IMO, with the car colour combinations, black would look right, any coloured OEM brakes would look wrong.

I think if you're going to go painted calipers with an M decal, you should go all the way with drilled rotors too.

+1

I thought about doing that too but having my car under warranty I thought Maybe the dealer would void my warranty when it comes for them to replace the brake pads? I just think having cross drilled/slotted rotors add to the overall appearance of the wheel/calipers & rotors.

With that paint color, other than black, you might get away with bronze or copper painted calipers.

What did you use to clean and prime the calipers before painting?
