The cell phone holders doesn't really have a good place for it in this car and it looks really out of place. Luckily there's 2 places I can reliable stash my phone and still be within arm's reach
1. The cupholders 2. The thigh support of the seat. I move it out a little so it has a 1/3 inch gap. The phone easily slide snuggly in and out. Most of the time, I drive alone so I slide it in the passenger's seat. Bonus, the iphone charger plugged into the center console can reach it easily. Last edited by 493263; 05-26-2015 at 09:17 AM.. |

ProClip (pricey but worth it). Close to but not on the air vents. I had a Kenu Airframe as well but it just flopped around on the vents.

Sorry buts that is just ugly, can't understand why you need this now that we have bluetooth integration. Each to their own but I just think it is a bit of an eye sore...

I ended up with this one after quite a bit of searching. I like the magentic feature it has.

Cars and smartphones should have mounting standards like VESA for TVs and monitors. It's such a problem that it should be addressed. It took forever to get a USB standard for charging. I wonder how long it takes for this.
I don't see anything card about every automaker designing cars with a specific mounting port so people can put whatever adapter they need for their phone to hold it and charge it. |

In fact, I like your idea but with a twist, start requiring integration and a cradle in the center console and require software in the phones that will not allow them to function in any capacity while the engine is running unless the phone is in the cradle. Hard to implement (ex. what about passengers phones...), but I could see something like that eventually and it would save a lot of lives. |

I know we're not suppose to encourage cell phone use during driving but I feel like it's an impossible task. Even with heavy punishments, drunk driving is still rampant everywhere. So something with lesser charges like phone use is going to be ignored by most people.
However, I feel that if you have a mount for the phone, people would less likely stare down at their lap or fumble around with it just to read a text. It may not solve the problem but it will probably minimize accidents. I care about the innocent drivers and pedestrians that get hurt because of morons on their phones. So having a mounting standard should help. |
