iPhone 4 snap-in media cradle & BMW Apps -- for all the $, this is all it does?
While I'm loving my 535xi (post 3/11 build), I'm finding all of my excitement with its supposed advanced iPhone integration was, evidently misplaced.
The BMW Connected iPhone app only does Twitter (which I don't use), Facebook (which delivers a fraction of the experience of just looking at my phone), and Internet radio (which really isn't much different than Bluetooth streaming Pandora). The app itself hasn't undergone a single (significant) revision since it was first released last fall. I just got the (overpriced) iPhone 4 medial snap-in cradle and it would appear it only (1) charges the phone and improves reception using the car's antenna (which I wasn't having problems with via the USB port), (2) gives you the iPod interface (which, while pretty, doesn't let you search and has little benefit over the native iPod interface), and (3) lets you watch iTunes videos, only while parked (yawn). I was hoping the cradle would gain you access to more iPhone apps and features. Seems like it doesn't do much at all at this point. Am I missing anything? Is this all BMW has managed to do?

At least it does a lot more than the cheaper blackberry cradle I'm having which only charge the phone I don't even think it routes to f10 external antenna either. The phone contacted with only 2 pins on its cradle.

I got the media cradle, for me I'll pay the premium just for the nice integration. The nicer pandora interface is a plus too...all the facebook/twitter stuff is nonsense. But the clean look and easy snap-in is easily worth it for me.

Let's hope BMW can open up som APIs and let the developers develop BMW specific apps. Or, let the car run any app that is on the phone.

I recently got the (over-priced and under-featured) iPhone 4 snap in media adapter. I loaded a video onto my iPhone to see how watching video works.
If I select External Devices>Plugin (iPhone 4), I get the iPod music interface (with choices for song, artist, genre, playlist, etc), but not selection for videos. If I select External devices>iPhone (not the plug-in choice) I see the regular BMW interface, with a "film icon" which is greyed out (whether I am in park or not*). I restarted the car with the iphone in the adapter and got the film icon to be non greyed out. The video on my iphone appeared and when I selected it, I got sound only -- no video. Am I missing something? (* I have the DVD In Motion hack installed).

Instead of starting a new post relating to the iphone media cradle I'm hoping to get some advice from an existing post.....
I have business nav and was recently told by my local dealership parts dept that my F11 (June build so i'm assuming it has combos etc.) is not compatible. Can anyone confirm either way whether this is the case? Many thanks for your help |

I enjoy using the Pandora app, but other than that, I agree that the iphone integration and apps have been disappointing. Glad I didn't get the cradle.
