Driving in Sport mode all the time?

Wanted Feedback:
I have a 2011 535 with 76k with sport+ mode and paddles shifters (no elec trunk close but that’s another story) bought used about a year ago.
Anyways I live in SF most/90% of my driving are on streets and short runs.

I understand that driving in Sport or Sport+ gives me better performance and ‘The Hell Yeah!’ fun factor and it sucks a lot more gas but does it reduce the life span of the car?

Does it create excessive use on the parts increasing the likelihood of changing parts sooner?
Thoughts?

You're perfectly fine driving in sport mode all day everyday. No harm on the car at all

You should be fine driving in Sport/Sport+ all the time but I would take it easy until the engine and transmission warm up before driving hard or letting the revs get above 3500 rpm in Sport mode. If your commute is short and on city roads, it could take a while before the car warms up. My daily commute is now <10 min and my car never gets warm so I take it out during the weekend for the old Italian tuneup

I like the previous response reference to "old Italian tuneup"; now that made me smile. Must remember that expression, could come in handy next time I get pulled over for speeding?

I pretty much always have my car in Sport+ as soon as its up to temp.

Increased fuel consumption is the only likely long term compromise as it locks out 8th gear and increases default WGDC to keep the turbo at the ready.

As long as you are aware that sport+ is not perfectly predictable in terms of how much help from electronics you will get, it's perfectly fine to do so.

Me, I personally prefer Sport on public roads. There's no real benefit to choosing sport+ on public roads since none of us are timing their laps (hopefully).

Perhaps xDrive is better, but Sport+ and RWD with potentially slippery roads could be recipe for disaster.

Ah.. Thats a pretty cool one to know... Noticed that at high speeds its was still in 7th and wondered why it wouldnt shift, even though it was beyond the 3k rev range where it normally shift if not accelerating hard.

You can still use 8th in Sport+, simply do it manually, if you want it for cruising. I use 8th when in Sport+ mode, shifter to the left and use the paddles, or shifter.

I've been driving in DSC off lately.... BMS Stage 1 seems to allow me to romp a bit better in 1st gear. Before, it seemed like the car was hesitating or he power was severely cut until 2nd gear. Now I know there may be some wheel spin and big boy rules apply (never in the rain!), but it seems like I'm getting more of the tunes power in 1st.
