2010-2012 Used Car F10 guide

hey guys,

I apologize if this info was posted as sticky but i couldn't find it.

Anyway, in the market for a relatively cheap daily, and it seems 2010-2012 535s can be had for not a lot of money and relatively low miles.

I'm not new to BMWs..owned an E46 for 10 years and currently have a F30 335i. Other Family members owns an X5 and X6. So I am well aware and expect the upkeep of one.

In regards to a used 535, what years do I need to avoid? What year should I target? I need a relatively reliable daily for the next 5 years (not Toyota-reliable) but something reliable from the perspective of a BMW fan. Maybe something about the electronics, tranny (only considering a manual) or something else. I am aware of N54 and N55 reliability but not sure what the major maintenance and repairs for a 535 would be.

I've heard bad things about the V8 so staying away from the 550i for now.

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Oh, just keep reading here. Bmwvin.com will become your friend when you find real candidates to purchase. Very early '11s might have some teething issues. Manuals are very hard to find. Figure 60-90 days, within 500 miles, you'll find a car that has 80%+ of your dream car.

Bear that in mind before you dicker over $500. Great cars!
