i noticed the wheel gap was enormous on trying the wheels on. So a drop is on the horizon. I rang BMW to ask about Warranty and they said changing the springs will void it. I also inquired about their own BMW Perfomance/M-Sport suspension which they also replied that they can't retrofit.

I'm considering dropping the car and if i need any warranty work done i will fit back the OEM springs.

Does this make sense? Whats the labour duration for Springs swap?

How did it look when the car was on the ground? When you rise the car the wheels kinda hangs out more.

Second and third picture was on the ground.
Photo 2 - I stood just in front of the car to take the shot
Photo 3 - I was standing by the drivers door to take the shot (its a UK car with the steering on the right)

The dealer had told me to install and put the car on the ground which I did.

He is still insisting it "looks good" and I'm wondering shouldn't I be the judge of what looks good or not. It's all aesthetics and go me the decision about what looks good is entirely subjective.

I might go back to the garage and ask them to install both the fronts. I will probably drive it out of the garage to take a better shot. I only have my phone camera

Okay, I see. ET20 is as I said pretty aggressive on a f10 without a heavy drop.

Booked an appointment to have all the four rims fitted today just to be sure.

Yeah a drop will probably make it look better, but thats currently not an option as i'm under warranty. Car is just a year old and when i enquired from the dealership about drop the first answer i got is "it will void your warranty".

i even asked them if they can do it with the M-Sport Suspension/Performance and they said they dont offer such retrofits. Its ireland and dealers can be a bit old school.

Right after a bit of thinking I rang a few BMW dealers to see about the lowering springs.

So i rang AC Schnitzer UK and they gave me a list of BMW dealers that will fit for me.

Found one about 100 miles away that will install ACS for me. Happy days.

AC-Schitzer springs are more costly than H&R and Eibach but they have a warranty that covers work that my official BMW dealer won't in the eventuality.
Safer option

When there is a will, there is a way.

Like mine on coilovers. With spacers my winter set-up is ET21 on 8.5x19 OEM wheels in the front. Look like this.

Photos of latest try coming up. The fronts are definitely like 10mm outside the fender.

If those wheels only comes in ET20 and ET35, and you want no poke, you should get ET35.

If you were to lower it, then you can go with a lower offset.
Because when you lower the F10 the front tires cambers in, so the more you lower it, the lower offset you'll need to get flush fitment.
Remmib if i lower with the ET20 will it cure the pokiness?

I have uploaded some photos

At the wheels installer today opinion was divided, the younger staff thought it looked ok, the older staff felt it was poking a tad bit

I have made a booking for lowering with AC Schnitzer springs (because of the warranty they give for Suspension incase BMW balks at warranty repairs)

I have about 6 days to return the rim or keep it

Its not just the tyre poking, the edge of the rim seems to be sitting outside the body :/

I just remembered that those are 9" wide and not 8.5" as I thought when I posted the pics of my car with winter set-up. So I don't think lowering it on ACS springs will completely cure the pokiness, but it will help.

If the wheels are still on the car, you could park the front wheel on a bump or incline to compress the spring as if it was lowered and then see how much it pokes.

I don't think you deserve to buy the front wheels fitment problem right away with a brand new rims. Whatever are your plans for lowering the car, the trigger should be your decision, not the dealer's experience issue. Let the dealer replace the fronts. Now you can measure yourself which front ET is the optimal with the given width.

BTW what about the rears? Are you happy with them? The car looks very good with new wheels, hands down.

Thanks Guys. I'm gonna send the fronts back.

The wheels are off.

Got a (380gbp for springs and 580gbp for labour) quote for the ACS springs lowering from a BMW dealership who is happy to do the job.

So thats locked in as a future mod in a few weeks. I hope to stop the modding at that...or maybe not

So far - Speakers/Amp upgrade, tints, wheels and lowering

Dropped the car on ACS Springs. Less than 24 hours on new springs. Night and day difference in handling and the drive.

Still waiting for wheels

I'm happy with the drop, just waiting on the 20" Rims now. Super frustrating especially when money has changed hands waiting for goods.
It's almost winter. The winter here doesn't get that bad I don't think any one changes wheels/tires for the winter
