Code 122004; Diverter Valve Control; Line Break
Going nuts over this, Reward if anyone can diagnose 122004 per title.
Car goes into drivetrain malfunction and almost impossible to reset. There is no pattern, it does at startups or warm/hot engine. During drive or idle. I am about to replace the diverter valves (Alpina $400 a piece) and aint fun. Yelp!! Last edited by 747flyboy; 07-28-2017 at 10:26 PM.. Reason: spelling |

It would seem the DV diaphragm is torn. When I installed the GFB DV+ I got a shadow code for a BOV stuck. Obviously there is no BOV, but it was complaining about the GFB spring. I'm pushing 19psi and other than the shadow code my aftermarket DV is maintaining well. I would guess that your DV is done due to ripped diaphragm.

122004; Diverter Valve Control; Line Break
I have been getting the same code on the 2011 550i, started a year ago after I installed the TurboSmart blow-off valves. Emailed TurboSmart but got no reply. If I drive the car daily I do not get the code but any time the car sits more then 36-48 hours then I get the 122004 code. Frustrating

I just email TurboSmart support again with these details: 122004 diverter valve, control; linebreak, I installed a pair Turbosmart Plumb Back VR9 BOV's on my 2011 BMW 550i. Installed in November 2020. After about six months I started get the following error code: 122004 diverter valve, control; linebreak, this causes the car to go in to limp mode. The code will go away after about 10 minutes of the engine running. I have to wait for that code to be cleared before I can clear the limp mode code. Another interesting factor, I only get the 122004 diverter valve, control; linebreak code when the care has been sitting more the about 20 hours. Once the code is clear the car performs great and the code will not appear again until it sits more them about 20 hours. I have seen others that have this issue on bimmer forums but no clear resolution. Do the TurboSmart BOV's require any type of maintenance? Should I disassemble them and lubricate them? Any recommendations you can provide would be appreciated.

I went with the Kompact Dual Port's instead of the Kompact Plumb Back's, not sure if that is causing you any issues or not b/c from what I understand the only difference is how and when it vents. Reading up on this fault, have you tried clearing the fault, disconnecting your battery, reseating the harnesses and reconnect your battery? Another thing I remembering reading somewhere was the o-ring not being seated properly, not sure that is your problem b/c I think that triggers boost faults. Just spitballing, sorry not much help. Hopefully TS gets back to you, maybe one of the units is bad and it's that simple, well not the install cause I know that's a PITA.
