lowering bmw f10 550i

whats going on guys i just recently purchased a 2016 550i xdrive and needed some advice on what springs i should buy to lower it. its currently sitting on 20 inch wheels not the stock 19 inch aluminum alloys. i was looking at H&R sport springs which drop them 1.4 in the front front and 1.3 rear. my only worry is will this leave any wheel space at all or will i be rubbing every time im with people in a car or whenever i hit a bump on the road? keep in mind im from NYC and the roads here are horrible i will be hitting a bump or pothole every other block. please help!!

Tonnes of posts on this. I was thinking of doing a thread with pics of he most popular spring choices
H&R
Eibach
ACS
Dinan - that's what I went with as its only a 1/2 - 3/4 inch drop. Makes the car look like it should have come stock. I'm older and don't want it slammed.

Like mentioned above those are your choices. There's a lot of threads that cover each one... do some research and go from there

My Eibach sports blew my stocks shocks literally in a couple of days. Still waiting on my Koni's sports to arrive.

I went with Dinans as well. Conservative drop but really improved the ride and handling. Older dude here as well...

I did buy and have installed the Ride Quality kit, (aka as bump stops that are sized properly for the drop). I didn't try it without them so can't comment on if they were required. But I can say that after putting around a thousand miles on this setup, (both city and road trips), I wouldn't change a thing. Oversteer is significantly reduced, car handles super neutral now, both in comfort and sport/sport+.

no I didn't buy the ride control bump stops. I cheated and cut about 1/4 inch off the Oem. feels fine to me.
I figured that if the other springs like H&R drop an extra inch lower with no bump stops then what's the point. I understand the purpose but couldn't be bothered .

Haha not the springs yo! I'm going to trim the bump stops. Last time I ghetto rigged springs was on a Mazda 626 and heated the springs. Worst mistake ever.

Any of you guys know if m sport springs would fit and work well with non m sport suspension. Probably provide .5" drop all around, if any.

As Doubles pointed out - any springs alone will greatly reduce the life of your OEM struts/shocks. I will be doing a drop as well, but I will go coilovers, adjustable coilovers can provide just as comfortable a ride as OEM shocks. Best street option is KW, but those can be $3k, they have a more budget friendly version called ST Suspension (made by KW in Germany). Then there are a host of good and even more budget friendly options: H&R, Bilstein, BC, Megan, K-Sport, etc
