I've had a built-in radar detector and laser jammer system for about 3 years now. If anyone has any questions please let me know!
My Setup: Laser Jammer: Laser Interceptor Quad BMW Edition (Vertical Jammers to fit in kidney grills). Radar Detector: Beltronics STI-R+ Custom Touches: My shop and I purchased infrared transmitting black plastic to make "covers" or "pods" to help conceal the laser jammer heads. It helps with the gloss black accents and really adds to the stealth install accomplished by my installer (High Fidelity Autosports). We also integrated the radar screen into the dash. Why I chose my setup: At the time, ALP was not out and Laser Interceptor was dominating the market. I am completely happy with my purchase and haven't updated my unit in quite sometime. My shop still chooses laser interceptor as ALP has a more bulky install. For the jammer, The Beltronics STI-R+ was, and still is the best radar detector on the market. Warns you of speed traps, speed cameras, blocks out false alerts, has GPS, is un-detectable to radar detector detectors (yes I said that right, police have detectors that let them know if a vehicle has a radar detector running), and many more features. My take on the Valentine One: I bought one as a detector for my rentals for road trips and when I drive friend's cars. It is quite annoying at the many false alerts and reading the cluster to see which band is running is hard to make out. You learn it off sound after a few days but it is really annoying. The direction of the signal is cool, but I'd rather have distance and range and clear display. I know there are ways to weed out the false alerts on a V1, but never cared to figure it out and sold it shortly after. There was a similar thread not too long ago so I'll just copy and paste what I wrote with pictures... Quote:

The laser jammer has it's own speaker, and so will the built in radar system. And yes, they do both go off when laser hits you. Quite the shock to your system. |
