Thanks. I came across this, but it notes this is for vehicles that retailed after 1/1/2014. My car is a 2011 originally sold in late 2010, and I purchased it in April 2013. I believe the CPO warranty you sent the link to here is more restrictive, so I am curious to see the earlier version that I would be bound by. It never occurred to me that I never actually receive a copy of the CPO warranty upon vehicle purchase.

You can try calling different dealerships and asking them if the door actuators are covered under CPO. If they all say no then I guess it's not covered, but if some say yes then it's just your dealership trying to screw you

The actual warranty is the same. The difference for post 2014 CPOs is "up to 6 years of BMW Roadside Assistance and BMW AssistTM Emergency Call, which includes Automatic Collision Notification, and TeleService are included."

It used to be shorter.

Your door actuators should be covered since it falls under electrical components.

*****Warning to all****** The CPO warranty IS NOT simply an extension of the new car warranty with the addition of a $50 deductible. I found this out the hard way. The door lock actuator on my 2011 535 started behaving abnormal around November 2014. If my doors were locked and I pulled on the handle to unlock (double pull would open the door), the door pin would go up, but when I released the handle would go back down and the door would remain locked. I also noticed when pressing unlock from the central locking button, the door pin would rise very slowly. I found this issue to be annoying, but fairly minor, and since I am always super busy I figured I would address the issue with the dealer the next time my car was in for a "bigger issue".

The key here is that my new car warranty was set to expire April 2015, but I knew at that point my CPO warranty would kick in for an additional two years, through April 2017 (my car only has 43k miles, so the 100k miles limit is not an issue) so I figured I was still under warranty. A few weeks ago my car started to sound a little funny on initial start-up so I decided it was time to bring it in and also have the door actuator issue resolved as well. That's when I found out that the door actuator would have been covered under the new car warranty, but not the CPO warranty! This little detail ended up costing me over $500. Diagnostic fee, actuator itself ($190) and then labor (I HATE the stealership). I am disappointed in myself for not making the time to bring in the car sooner, but also feel cheated as I don't think BMW actually provides a copy of the CPO warranty at the time of purchase and explains the difference in the warranties.

Don't freak out, but mine got replaced today under CPO, completely free of charge. I had exactly same symptoms as you for over a month. They initially suspected "door lock actuator". Looking at the invoice, they ended up replacing "system latch", "clip ring" and "cable tie".

Maybe my dealer was just super nice (how likely is that?) or maybe there's difference in Canadian Vs. US CPO but they did it no questions asked.
