Alignment and TPMS questions

Hello, searched but did not find a definite answer.

1) Coming from a Lexus, you need a tool to program the TPMS. Are you able to reset and program bmw TPMS through iDrive yourself? I have a second pair of wheels coming in.

2) Going from stock 19" 351's to 20" M5 343 wheels 265/295's. Assuming my alignment is fine with the 19's, is an alignment necessary with the wheel change?

Thanks in advance.

Alignment is not necessary with a wheel change, especially if you don't change your suspension (springs, etc.). But you need to make sure the wheels are balanced properly.

About TPMS, if installed correctly, you can reset it via iDrive and you should be good to go.

Great thanks for the info. The TPMS appear to still be malfunctioning, I'm assuming my car isn't reading them correctly after several tries and 12mins of driving. Any thing else I can try before I swap the tpms from my old wheels?

Also, since you're an SD native, where is a good place to take it without them butchering the wheels. Don't say Discount tire lol.

I got my TSW wheels/tires at http://www.sdtireandwheel.com/

I had them re-use my OEM TPMS. They removed it from the OEM wheels and re-installed it to my new wheels. Worked fine for me after re-setting it.

twinPWRbimmer , looks like the other TPMS is not registering with your car.
Do you mind sharing your car info and the new wheel info? It may have different model of TPMS.

Unsure what kind of TPMS are in the wheels as they are M5 Wheels that came from an owner who drove a 550i. I'm assuming the TPMS worked fine for the 550i and I believe if the TPMS worked for the 550i, it should work for my 535i. But i could be wrong?

Thinking of taking it to a shop to test the TPMS sensors with their tool. If all else fails, I'll just have a tire shop swap the TPMS with my stock 351's sensors.

Hmm, it may have been dead TPMS or different version.
Post your findings.
