I get the texts okay on my iPhone 4 without jailbreaking but no luck with emails.

Shame on BMW for;

Not working with Apple to fix this, and

Not keeping customers fully up to date in the meantime.

It feels a bit like they don't actually like their customers much...

This has absolutely nothing to do with BMW! Apple restricts emails due to "safety" concerns. This is why only new SMS messages show up on the screen.

Like I said, jailbreak and install btnotification then emails will show up. Either that or get a second hand blackberry. I may end up getting a blackberry as it is annoying having both texts and emails show up under sms.

I have to tell you, this is driving me crazy. I'm fairly technically savvy. I have a November 2012 build M5. I have my 4S running iOS 6.1.3. I have all the notifications configured correctly. But all I get when I go to configure my iPhone in the iDrive Bluetooth Options menu is two options - Telephone and Audio. I have them both checked.

What am I missing?? btw, I have not updated my software with the latest bin release as I don't think it will help this issue.

So do you and supershaft believe that all those who have email and sms working have installed jailbreak and btnotification?

Garage List
I recently did the a test. Whenever, my screen is in "current office" or in "office" windows, I receive the new emails on my BMW. Whenever, I am on other windows, especially in entertainment windows e.g. Radio, CD/Multimedia I sometimes receive them and most of the time don't.
Just a fact to think about.

OK, I've figured out that I am getting text messages but not email in iDrive. Is anyone getting email from an iPhone without using jailbreak and btnotification?

i've done my share of research and btnotification was the best option that works consistently.

I wanted to post an update about this whole thing. I'm extremely frustrated about this not working consistently with the iPhone unless it's jailbroken. I got the BlackBerry Z10 two days ago and email/texts/voice memos work OUT OF THE BOX. So, clearly this is an issue with Apple not implementing the Bluetooth MAP profile correctly. Unfortunately, the Z10 is kind of a half assed experience with the lack of native apps but I digress..

I also stupidly updated my test iPhone 4 to 6.1.3 thinking that Apple improved the situation. Unfortunately the update did nothing for consistency. Luckily I was able to do a tethered jailbreak and the only thing that worked was btnotification.

I managed to get the email to work with my 1M, but only briefly. Did an idrive update a while ago but that didn't solve anything. Tried repairing the BT, nothing. However, I noticed now that with the connected app running, the screen never locks. If you turn the phone off, then connected app disconnects. (Sort of funny.) I think the SMS msgs come in still. Tomorrow I will try some experimentation. Using an iPhone 5 with 6.1.4.
