Enhanced Bluetooth option
I'm looking to sell my 330d Coupe for a new 530d M Sport .. Got all the options sorted that I want which are:
552 adaptive LED lights 430 folding exterior mirrors 2TB eight speed sport automatic transmission 6WB multi function display 609 navigation professional multimedia M Sport Plus package 3AG reversing camera 4NB 4 zone air con (?? Might drop from the list) Enhanced Bluetooth (??!) 12v socket option Does anyone know exactly what the enhanced Bluetooth offers as there isn't any information in the brochure or website! My current 330d has the pro nav and I have USB sockets which I don't use, but also has BT streaming audio which I do use so I don't need to plug my phone in when playing MP3's.. Do I need to pay the extra for enhanced Bluetooth to give me BT audio? Seems a bit of a rip off if I do?! Thanks |

Yes you do. I didn't spec it and don't have that. Apparently BMW Apps is also included in there, but cannot confirm.
Apparently it can be coded in, but there doesn't seem to be much info on it. It can be done by professionals though, but what they would charge I don't know. But it is a £400 option (or there abouts), so I didn't spec it. Instead, I have a 32Gb USB stick in the armrest with all the music I want. Much easier. |

I have all my music on an iPod plugged into the USB, however my dealer told me that you would regret not speccing it, with apps, voice control bits etc as well as bluetooth music streaming if you do that, which I have to say is actually quicker than loading from the USB, strangely!!
Reversing camera some swear by it, me I did'nt even consider it, but when someone says I "should" have an option, I tend to go with it, them selling it to me, I understand blah blah! Strangely he could not understand me speccing folding mirrors, but they are essential to my mind!! |

ok thanks...
Just checked and the apps interface is included with pro nav, so just seems to be the BT audio and simultaneous connection of 2 phones.. For an extra £400 odd I can live without this to be honest... Not good of BMW to charge this much if essentially it is just a software coding configuration...! |

Agree reversing camera isn't essential but fairly desirable
Agree on the folding mirrors - don't understand why these can't come as standard! They are on my wife's S-Max... But then again so is BT audio...! |

I do miss the adaptive lights I had on my E91, but couldn't justify the expense over the xenons that are excellent.
But if I had just over a grand to play with on extra spec (the cost of the LED's), I would change the headlining material. Feels cheap as hell to me for a £50k motor. |

Yep do find the BMW xenon's very good... Much brighter than the Ford xenon lights... Have been tempted to upgrade the bulbs in the ford for brighter aftermarket ones, but when they cost about £100 per bulb think she'll have to cope with the standard ones

It will be the first option I tick when I replace soon. The best options I added and wouldn't even consider living without now I am accustomed to them are: 1) Prof Media - use it every journey 2) Sports Auto |

Ha ha. I cancelled my mirror from dropping down. I only need it to drop when parking beside a kerb really. But multiple times a day I might be reversing into my garage, where I need to see the lights from inside the garage in the mirrors to know I'm lined up (the reverse camera does help here). But the end result is that if the mirror drops, it's harder to line up my most regular parking maneuver.

Cancel the mirror dropping by keeping the mirror selector switch to the passenger side apparently, not tried it myself.
Incidentally the Adaptive Headlights function in the exact same way as the LED's do in the videos. Completely different to the E9*s. Full beam remains on and other vehicles are blacked out. Dealers should really be promoting this more as I'm sure people would consider them a decent compromise on the LED's which are rather expensive.

Do you mean adaptive xenons function the same as adaptive LEDs? They certainly don't as it's not possible: the LEDs have a switchable array and although the xenons swivel there is only one light source at the end of the day. The main beam does not remain on in adaptive xenons unless you're referring to High Beam Assist which dips the beams when other vehicles are about.
Adaptive xenons are fantastic but adaptive LED matrix is a whole different ball game.

The function I'm referring to is the headlights ability to black out portions of the beam. On the E90 the high beam would switch off and on entirely when you approached another vehicle from behind or one came towards you. The new ones do not. They remain on and cut the beam in the exact same way as described in the LED videos which have been posted. The car also appears to be able to cut one main beam leaving the other on.

Mine are doing this, as in the top video. It's really quite something.

Yes mine do that too - high beam assist (HBA) simply dips the main beam for you but it does not stay on all the time - it just means you as the driver don't have to dip manually. The video you posted shows LEDs.
That's quite different to an LED matrix. BMWs adaptive xenons on the F10 are fantastic but when you see the LEDs working it raises the game again.

The HBA is splitting the beams, blocking out other vehicles and remains on most of the time just as in the video I linked to. If you read the paragraph at the top of the post I linked to it states 'First introduced on the new BMW 7 Series (July 2012) as part of the optional Adaptive LED Headlights, this functionality is now also supported with Xenon headlights on all new BMW 3 Series Saloon and Touring models specified with a Visibility package' This is obviously now on the LCI 5 Series.

Exactly. And, if it were made clearer that the Adaptive Headlights actually did this I think more people would be speccing it.
I think that as you are now getting Xenon's as standard on the LCI you may think it's not worth upgrading to the Adaptive's if they just do the bends etc. I nearly didn't. My dealer didn't know they did this. He described the functions as per the video, saying how amazing it was and that the 3 Series Adaptive's did it, not the 5's.
