Downpipe installed on N55

Got JB4 stage 2 & downpipe from burgertuning.com. I installed jb4 in about 20mins, downpipe took about 45 mins at local shop.

Intially JB4 was installed running on map 1. I could tell bit of gain in power, but not much. Still felt turbo lag. It felt like launching a rocket. From 1-2k rpm, car feels slow, then on surge of power. After downpipe installed, it is a totally different engine. Response is immensely improved. Engine like and wants to be reved. Turbo whistle is sexy noise. It is more pronounced in cabin while driving. I do believe and feel that transmission shifts little quicker too because engine revs freely up and down faster than before. Downpipe is definitely a must upgrade.

The turbo spool being so crisp and apparent in sound is enough to upgrade the downpipe. Glad you are experiencing gains and enjoying it.

What downpipe is that? RSI catless downpipe?
Try running on map 2, it has more power.
I used to run on map 2 when I had my mods, it's awesome!

It is Dr. Euro downpipe. I am running it on map 2. Turbo spool is just spectacular. However, since this downpipe has no clamp to bolt it to car body, it may cause damage in long run to turbo assembly. Because the exhaust system simply hangs with rubber bushings, which can move up to an inch if downpipe is not connected. So downpipe & turbo assembly is the only thing holding the exhaust in place (backward & forward movement). I may need to weld metal bar to donpipe to bolt with body in OEM location.

Looks good man, will be ordering mine sometime next week as well as the JB4. Then to be one of the few F10 owners running a full catless straight pipe exhaust!! Also one of the few with a 6MT

This is a catless downpipe right? Is the check engine light on? Do you notice a more pronounced smell of exhaust fume?

I'm looking for a downpipe but don't want to deal with check engine light and stinking exhaust fumes. Just trying to make the car faster without loosing any practicality and comfort.

Thanks.

Evolution Raceworks is going to have a group buy on there Downpipe. You are going to have a check engine light unless you get the JB tuner.

When is the group buy going on? Looking to buy a DP soon.

Didn't even know ER built a downpipe for the N55 F10, only see it for the N20.

I have the JB tuner stage 2, will this eliminate the CEL? or is there a separate kit just for the CEL?

TIA

No CEL with jb4 2. Some how the exhaust slips out 1/2" from downpipe, so it sticks out but. I don't believe this downpipe is engineered well. The downpipe just hangs between turbo assembly and exhaust system. So if some rear ends you and hits your exhaust than it can put stress on turbo assembly since downpipe is not bolted to chassis.

You don't actually need the brackets, the N54 guys have been running bracketless downpipes since 2007 without any issues with cracked turbo manifolds.

We just received our new F10 535i DP's, similar design without the brackets except ours is polished and a couple hundred bucks cheaper

We've had nothing but praise from our test cars

Have someone put hand on turbo area, have other person kick in exhaust tip, you can feel and hear thump well on turbo body. Just think if someone rear ends you. There is a reason original has TWO mounting points.
