Anyone purchase a 2012 535xi recently?

Hi

I'm looking at purchasing a new 2012 BMW 535xi in the next few weeks and was wondering if members could share the dealer markup that they have paid in the GTA in the recent past? Also has anyone negoitated a price lower than the invoice price in Canada? It seems like a lot of the US members have been able to negotiate prices lower than invoice by as much as 3% in the recent past?

If it helps the configuration that i have selected along with the wholesale prices from CCC are as follows:

Base $59,060.00 (BLACK SAPPHIRE METALLIC, BLACK, DAKOTA LEATHER SEAT TRIM, FINELINE ANTHRACITE TRIM)
Freight $1,995.00
EXECUTIVE PKG $3,550.00
TECHNOLOGY PKG $1,730.00
BMW APPS $275
Totals including all items above: $66,710
Applying the cash discount, the wholesale price before dealer mark-up and taxes that i am looking at is: $66,710-$3,000 = $63,710

Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks.

Markup is 8.7%. Right now, 6.5 - 7%% off the configured list price is a fair offer to the dealer + the current BMW Canada delivery credit allowance. If one dealer says no, try another dealer, and so on until you get what you want. Therefore, $4300 - $4650 off the list + bmw canada factory allowance should be your current target.

Just for reference, when I picked up my 2011 550 two years ago (right at the middle of the MY), I got 6% off the list price.

Thanks Joey..Did you have to pay any other fee / charges on top of list - 5500? Would you be able to share the dealer / sales person that you dealt with?

Thanks.

I'd very much like to know which dealership you managed to get the discount from and the final price too if you still remember. I'm planning to trade in my 08 535xi but so far have only received low estimates.. hoping to negotiate a good deal to balance out the loss on the trade in! Thanks!

Ah, thanks anyway! I'll PM you after my ban's been lifted. Visited the first dealership today and got $2k factory rebate (2012 clearance) + $3k dealer discount. Managed to get $1500 for trade in rebate + $1500 loyalty rebate as well but I'm sure there is still some room...

Sorry, this is somewhat off topic but.. Does the 8.7% markup apply only to F10 5 series, or to other lines as well (say X5 for e.g.)? Thanks!

For all models & trims. No matter it's a 7 series or 1 series.

Hi, am new to this Forum , was active some time back on another Forum when I had my E60 545, when lease was over I moved into an MB E500 AWD for a short time awaiting release of the F10. As soon as F10 was released back in June of 2010 I leased my current RWD which was equipped with only the executive package. I would rather have gotten an XI but they were not released until Nov 2010 and truthfully I had enough of the MB, I am a firm believer that one does not go from a BMW to an MB , just took driving one for 17 months to come to that conclusion. (oK I knew way B4)

While I love my current F10, it is becoming a bit sedate for me in it's present configuration and although we had an easy winter last year, the car sort of sucks on snowy days even with 4 winters on it, once it gets moving it is not so bad, lol, it's just those few seconds when I am at stop sign or red light until it finds it's way that is pretty annoying. I sort of understand why my dealer claims to have only sold 3 RWD from June - November 2010.

So, I have been approached by my dealer to lease an XI demo with 9500 kms which had been on the road for 5 months. The car is equipped with M Sport Package and Executive Package (2012) and Tinted Windows. As I was not following prices on 2012's and now as you know BMW only have 2013's on the configurator, am wondering if I am getting the best deal.

Keep in mind I still have 12 more months to go on my current lease and wholesale value of my car is around 41k. XI is priced out at $74K with a discount of $ 5689.00 so net is
68K. New lease is based on 39 months nothing Down , with 24,000kms per year plus the 9.5 kms on the car now so 87,500 kms for the 39 months. monthly payment before taxes $1122.00 (@ 3.9%) . with all the loyalty credits etc... I walk away from my current vehicle.

I configured a 2013 with same options and lease payment is over 1300.00 and that does not include getting out of my current lease early.

The XI ride with M sport is so much more alive than my current car. My reasoning is that for around $87.00 more a month, I get the XI and the M Sport Package but at the same time it is a 2012 with 9 k on it. So , fair deal or not? I need to decide in next 24 hours.

Thanks

I printed off a sample 535Xi with all possible options before chage-over.
New MSRP
Base 2012=64900
Exec=3900
M-Sport=3900
Freight, taxes, fees=2809
Total=75509+sales tax/HST

Since you shouldn't be paying the $2809 on a demo the offered price seems high.
I picked up a 2012 in July with 133km on it as a used car, not a demo, where the MSRP was $74300, start price was $66900 before discount and $62400 before the tradein was added.

Bad offering from the dealer.

For new - MY2012,
BMW Canada is currently offering credit delivery allowance of around $3,000 + you can get another 7% or so off from the dealer side. The grand total discount off (from both sources) would be around $8,000. This is brand new.

word of advice. Do not let the dealer pressure you into making a quick decision. Ask the question ... how much does it actually cost me to get out of the lease early ? Need the dealer to give you the penalty, etc.

Hi Bobblehead

Thanks for your reply, dealer is giving me 7.7% discount of New Price so, New =$74,017.47 less discount $ 5689.00 for net of $ 68,328.47, however keep in mind that
this car is Demo with 9.5 k on it.

I have 12 more lease payments on my car so 12 @ 1040.00 B4 taxes = 12,480.00 plus buy back of 38K = $50,480.00 , dealer claims that BMW will take off 3 payments plus loyalty credits, claims they will have to wholesale the car because no one wants RWD and they have been offered 41k for my car. So I think all the extra credits from BMW Financial are going to the shortfall on them taking back my car?

If I keep my car, I have to replace 2 run flats as they are close to being finished plus I would think I will have a brake job to do soon as car has 55k on it and will be due soon.

Am trying to get them to throw in 4 Winter run flats into the deal at no cost.

Just checked with BMW Financial and my obligation left on my car would be 9 months
@ 1040.00 = 9360.00 , they will credit 3 months as previously noted, so perhaps the new Demo monthly payments are a bit high , but I am not thinking that they are way out of whack as there will be a shortfall on my existing car? no?

If dealer will absorb 3 months of your lease means you are still on the hook for 6 months of lease payments = $6,000 in which they will roll that into new lease deal calc. (hidden or buried). In another words, being a demo 2012, if the dealer knows the car has depreciated 15 - 20% range (value loss $11000 - $15000) and offered you 8% off $5700, since you are on the hook on the $6000, the dealer would have considered to have offered $11,700 off on the car from that perspective point of view.

That 3 months payment waived is simply their valuation when the car is turned in early for resale purpose.

Is this deal fair ? In my opinion, it's probably $3000 from being a good deal for you. Not sure what dealer will do to sweeten the current proposal ?

- winter set of tires/rims
- extended wear & tear package warranty
- no admin fee

Certainly, no pdi/freight as it's a used car. Not a demo. with that kind of mileage.

I may have not articulated my lease obligation right from what you have noted . I have 12 lease payments left on my car 12 @ 1040.00 = 12,480.00

BMW is throwing in the following discounts

- Option Credit $ 2,000.00
-Loyalty Credit $ 1,500.00
- 3 lease payments $ 3587.94(Tax in Price os 1195.98/month based on current lease)

So, the dealer is getting a total of $ 7,087.94 which if i understand them correctly, they are using to offset the shortfall when they wholesale my car.

So now, the dealer wants the lease based on full MSRP less 7.8% discount, I went back to them and told them I want the winter tire set up thrown in, I figure the lease to be based on about 3k more than it should be but it is not a huge price to pay to get out of my car.

sounds like the dealer is playing some sort of shell game.

1) If you turn in your car 12 months ahead of time, they should be able to sell that car much higher than the buyback value. So, they are valuing your penalty as:
Your 12 months balance of payment obligation - 12,480 tax out
Less: BMW Canada credits (3500)
Less: dealer to absorb 3 payments (3120) tax out
Net savings for you $5860

New lease deal - dealer proposes $74000 * 7.8% discount = 5800
Add: saving from above /$5860
Total $11660 (as viewed by the dealer as how much they are offering you)

Based on this calc, the $11,660 / $74,000 = 15.75% depreciation as viewed by the dealer. In my opinion, it's towards the lower end of the depreciation calc. Bottom line is that if you can squeeze out another $3000 - $3500 (either by winter tires/wheels and extened wear & tear warranty) or simply cash discount, then you got yourself a fair deal.

I see we are coming to the same conclusions, they already caved on the winter tires which they claim are $ 600.00 each, no wheels though , seeing it is a lease I will either switch tires on same wheels for winter like I did on my current car or maybe buy a set of wheels from our American friends whom all seem to to be switching out of their oem wheels. Thanks for all your help and your prompt replies, it is people like you who make these forums so enjoyable to particpate in, enjoy your new M5, will let you know by Friday if I am driving the XI.

BTW, the wholesale value on my current car is 41K, they can't seem to give away a RWD here in the land of snow.

stock rims/tires set - dealer cost $2700 ... dealer in T.O. showed me and retail for $3700.

no need & benefits for you to buy extra set of wheels

As for the RWD, the dealer is right ... "Did I just agree with the dealer ?"

Somebody better slapped me silly.

Bottom line is switching over to the new car will cost you $ regardlesss. right now, the offer stands as pretty unfavourable ... in my view.
