Rear seat and boot space
Hi,
We are looking to get a GT for a more "practical" car - I drive an F80M3 and the wife a 430convertible. We need more boot/trunk space as we now have a dog (why oh why oh why) My question is - when the rear seats are fully back, the boot space is no bigger than the M3, but with the rear seats forward there is an additional 150l of space. Is there enough leg room for a child (12) in the back with the seats fully forward? Can you just put one seat forward and gain an extra half of the 150l? Is there only 2 positions (forward and fully back) on the rear seats. Thanks in advance ? |

The rear seats are slidey like front seats so there are multiple positions.
Even with them forward there is enough room for an adult, more so if the driver/passenger are less tall in the front. For a dog I'd actually recommend an F11 estate/wagon, or even a 3 series estate |

unlike most hatchbacks the back of the seats is not the end of the boot/trunk, there is a separate board that encloses the boot, once the seat is slipped down the board can be flipped forward allowing you to use the cabin space aswell

As mentioned above. Regardless if the rear seats are slid forward or back, the trunk (boot as you people across the pond call it), will be the same. There is a 'wall' between the rear seats and the boot which can only be put down when the seats are folded down, similar to how SUV's work. You can, however, split the seats so a child can use one side and have the other side folded down. Also, since the GT is a fastback design, the rear boot space isn't very high.

Dogs and babies, my friend. Congrats on the X5. We looked at one 2 weeks ago and was tempted to trade my wife's F10 in for the new X5 hybrid model (not sure if you have them over there). Here in the states, we get a huge federal rebate for purchasing or leasing these cars so they end up being cheaper than the full petrol version.
