Rear seat entertainment question

I got the rear seat entertainment package in my new 2011 535i. I've got a 2 year old and a 3 month old and drive the car ~3 hours each way to the beach house most summer weekends. I figured that it would be able to keep the kids occupied in the back while I enjoy satellite radio up front.

The manual isn't terribly clear on exactly how to accomplish this. All I've been able to do is put the video in the rear slot for the kids to watch while it plays its audio over the entire system.

Does anyone have experience with this system? I suspect a pair of wireless headphones may be necessary to have 2 audio sources.

You have 2 ways to make its sound goes over the headphones only.

1- in front idrive select "front seats have priority" then what you plays in front will play on entire system. And what you play backseats will play only on headphones.

2- leave the priority wherever you want but select on rear system options to play on headphones instead of audio system.

If you dont have headphones the kids wont listen anything..just on the entire system.

Hope it helps.

I am surprised that the headphones are not wireless. Mini-vans have had wireless headphones for years!

wireless headphones are optional. the ports are for wired headphones if you don't want to buy wireless ones.
