have just recieved my 2012 520D and was plesently surprised that it had start/stop system when coming to a red light etc. thought that this only was availeble on manuel versions but I have sport automatic. is this something new for 2012 that did not exist earlier?

yes I do understand but that info was not available to me, nor did my dealer tell my about this. he said that only manuals had this option.

I have received one 2 days ago as well but I am not aware of start/stop. You mean it stops on traffic lights on its own? Some option that i did not seen in the menus?

I knew that 2012 Autos will have the start/stop feature but unless manufacture date is between September (I think) you shouldn't have this feature. Mine was manufactured 8 of August.

mine was ordered 8 august and put i que for production after week 36 so that it would automatically be 2012 and not a 2011. yes it stops by it self in heavy traffic when standing still and also on red lights. there is a button underneth start/stop engine button with which I can turn off this function also.

It's great to know that it has a button to turn it off if you want. I personally hate the start/stop so called "feature" and I wouldn't buy a car with it if I could not have the option to turn it off.

Yup, seems like BULLSHIT completely non-existent savings for a significant wear and usage on the engine, starter, battery, you freakin' name it!!! Unless gas was 10x more expensive on our continent and literally every stoplight cost me a buck, I would keep that darn thing off at all times....
