Help w M6 Muffler Install on 550i xdrive

I thought it was a straightforward mod to install M6 mufflers on my 550i xdrive, but my (trusted) indy mechanic says the geometry/layout is all off and is a "waste of time." Can those of you who have done this give me some advice?

I thought that, if the 550 exhaust is cut off close to the mufflers, the M6 mufflers can drop right in (or close). Any advice is appreciated!

Looking to get this done in NJ/NYC area (too, if any recommendations).

Thanks in advance!!

You need to take it to a muffler shop... they need to redo/extend the hanger and do the axle piping...

I had the same issue too, it wasn't just a drop in method. Went to a trusted shop in Westchester and said, it more in depth, have to make a bunch of adjustments, my M5 exhaust was also cut close to the muffler, so he basically had to weld on a steel section of pipe to align it.

Thanks. Found a couple of recommended muffler shops. Will take the mufflers there and see what we can sort out. Any additional experiences or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks, guys.

I found a solid muffler shop that was able to install the M5/M6 mufflers on my 550.
Only wrinkle is -- they did not have vacuum lines in stock long enough to reconnect the exhaust valves/flaps, so I am stuck in closed position.
Can anyone show me where I need to connect from and too to get the flaps reconnected? I have vacuum hose coming in soon.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
