The sunroof on my 2011 550 sport does not open automatically with one push. The shade opens all the way, but I need to hold the button to get the glass to open. Also, when you push the button twice, only the shade opens; the glass stays closed. Lastly, the shade opens completely, but the glass stops short about 2-3" before the end of the opening.

I assume this is not normal operation??

Sounds normal to me. I have to push the button several times to open my sunroof too.

You have to time it just right. Slide the button all the way back past the point where there's an indent. Then just as the cover starts to open, slide it all the way back again. Make sure to release the button. Both the glass and cover will open together.

Yes, I believe that this is "normal" operation for the sunroof. It would be nice to have a single button operation to open the cover and the glass sunroof all the way.

Strange. I can push it once to open the shade and right after it starts I can push it again and the glass opens. hmm - I'll check it again, but I'm almost certain it works for me this way. I'm certain I don't have to keep pushing.
There are 2 levels for the button. With one you have to keep it, and with the second you can release, and it will continue opening. Just like with windows in the doors.

it's just like power window, push it till it clicks, twice for both shade and sunroof.
