Nice!

Buying a DA polisher was probably the most influential item I've bought when it pertains to car detailing. Machine polishing a car is much easier than by hand and you're able to get much better results especially in removing scratches and swirls.

I highly recommend Menzerna polishes. They're a little pricey but give tremendous results.

Have fun!

Totally agree with you on the DA polisher. Gonna do some more research on polishing compounds. I've watched Junkman's and now watching Chemical Guy's YouTube videos.

Both are really good products. check this write up...

http://www.autopia.org/forums/detail...-compound.html

Just a note, you are going to be reading and get confused with all these products!! lol. drove me nuts over the past 4 months. But the Junkmans vids really helped.

I'm still sticking to 10% products and 90% technics/elbow grease !

I went with the Meg's 105/205 and Orange and White Hex logic pads. I'm extremely happy with the results for a novice. I'm getting random complements even when the car is dirty!

After watching Chemical Guys YouTube last night I think I'll give their V34 compound, V36 medium and V38 finishing and Butterwax Carnuba to seal it. Maybe Jet? Also ordering their HexLogic pads orange, white and blue pad. With their discounts and sales I think I'll save that way instead of going Meguiar's 105/205.

That link to autopia was cool. Meguiar's looks to be a very good product to use.

Some 'after' and one 'before' shot of my weekend doing a single stage polish on the 5. Took about 20 hours to do entire car. Worth it!

Adam's Pro Clay Bar
Porter Cable 7424xp polisher
Pinnacle Advance Swirl Remover
Optimum Spray Wax

I used a black finishing pad and Pinnacle Finisher on the hood but honestly didnt notice much difference between that and how the rest of the car looked with just the swirl remover, so i only 'finished' the hood. I'd be another 6hrs into it if i decided to used finishing pad on the entire car.

i've got the same DA. it works pretty damn well. i'm picking up a Carbon Black 550i, this weekend, and its going to need a LOT of work. luckily....i've had a good bit of practice.

My old ISF...

this time...i'll seal it with some CQuartz. i'll make sure to start a thread when i finish. congrats on the pick up.

oh...@Quicksilv3r, fantastic job on the car!!!!

I'm planning on doing this on my 4 days off. It's going to take a few days to do this right. So for the time being I just been ordering my products. From products, tools and even stools and carts lol! I'm starting off with the Harbor Freight DA for now and eventually upgrade to a different in case I don't like the HF? Total cost as in the DA or do you mean everything? So far $400+

Good congrats!! I live and die by 3M machine polish, compound, and Meguiars Gold Class. P21S, is my next choice, but waxing is all about the foundation and work you put in on the clear coat. I've detailed, polished, and waxed almost 200 cars ranging from Fararri to Ford Escort.. What I've learned is that different waxes and compounds take differently on types of paint. However, back when I used to try all those expensive over the top waxes thinking that price equated to better; I learned that was far from true.
Use the proper tools when the proper tool is supposed to be used.. ie you need to clean the clear; wash, clay, compound, polish, wax. Don't try to wax out scratches or swirl marks..

I use only 3M pads for my machine products, and only Meguiars Gold or P21S. I typically only have to wax maybe once per year, and use detail spray to clean off dust, but my cars stay in the garage most everywhere I go..Heavy pollen I rinse off with water.

"Among the protective ingredients in Vintage are evergreen, honeydew, coconut, cantaloupe, and sunflower oils."

Wonder what it tastes like...

What does it take to refill? Send it in and pay postage both ways?

This one is only $55k, http://www.zymol.com/solaris.aspx

GEEZ!!!!! $2500?!?!?!?! I get it if you're protecting the sheen on a $1m show car, but on a car that is a daily driver? THat is beyond ludicrous. For that price they shouldn't just include "lifetime refills" it should include BJs on demand as well.

Not only should BJs be on demand but said BJer should apply the wax and remove it using her silk panties.

I'm content with my Black light and it only cost me $25 bucks lol! Kinda glad I didn't spend crazy money on a DA as it's pretty much a one time use as now it just sits in my tool box starting to gather dust
