550i mufflers even with the flap open and windows down I couldnt tell the difference, worthless.

however they are pretty noticeable on my M5, and they do sell a kit for wireless or like you did, a longer cable that reaches the driver.

Never did test it on the OEM 550 cans though.

Old thread but good pics! Does adding the M5 mufflers to the 550i do anything for performance or just add sound? I thought I had read something that replacing the 550i resonators with straight pipes would improve sound with stock 550i mufflers? I want to improve the sound but not at $1k (or more) for used M5 mufflers + installation.

Only sound. The turbo itself is basically the muffler, hence the performance piece.

Can this be done on 535i? Because I know the exhaust sounds different when in S/Sports mode then it is in regular D mode. I hope I can do this mod! Ill have to check it out.

The solenoid is behind the left rear tail light. You have to open the rear left inner panel to access it.

The whole thing took me less than 10 minutes. you just need a plastic panel puller and small flat screwdriver to help get the vacuum lines off the solenoid, and find a small plastic tube to join the two vacuum lines.

pic attached.
Hi, surely doing this you can hear the vacuum being bled off from inside the car? I have an f10 m5 and I did the jubilee clip trick on the valves which sounded great with the 200cell downpipe sport cats, but didn't run right from low revs. I then blocked the vacuum pipes to them and felt like I had no boost at all, then just disconnected the vacuum lines and again felt like no boost! Took the jubilee clips off and plugged vacuum pipes back on and then it was fine, so I need a different bypass solution!?.....
