My car is a 2014 and has DHP; the modes are as follows:
- Sport+ - Sport - Comfort - Comfort+ - ECO Pro I drive 90% of the time in Comfort and 10% of the time in Sport. I've only really ever quickly tried the other modes. My impression of Comfort+ was that it just made the dampers that much more squishy and probably lightened up on the anti-roll. Personally, I have no use for it. Comfort is plenty comfortable - it absorbs some pretty ugly asphalt cracks and bumps while still staying relatively composed with the feel of a proper BMW and sports sedan. I haven't tested this yet - but probably will at some point in either NY or Boston - but I could see only ONE potential place I'd maybe try out Comfort+ and that would be over cobblestone streets. That's the only "bumpier" surface I can think of at this point where the regular Comfort setting may not cut it.

I only use comfort+ when the road is really rough or if I have a full car of people. Otherwise I dislike the way the suspension feels as it gets floaty as it seems like rebound on the shocks is very soft.

I think Comfort is really pretty... well, comfortable. But then again, I came from a 3-series with a sports suspension, so a lot of things will probably feel really comfortable to me!

I use Comfort+ on the Interstates and when my wife is on board. It's soft and mushy with smooth acceleration.
Comfort is a little firmer and moves up the gears faster with a nice tone. Sport is hard suspension and provides the most fun acceleration. I use it on Interstate entrance and exit ramps unless my wife is on board.

I had a pre-LCI car before I switched to the new LCI recently. pre-LCI and LCI cars both had comfort+ if the car was optioned with either Variable Dynamic Control or Adaptive Control. What has changed between pre-LCI and LCI is the logic, the LCI versions seem to respond better as has been listed above in the various posts.

I've tested this by using some speedbumps I regulary drive over as reference. In my opinion it seems like the ECOpro mode is linked with the Comfort setting.
The only way I'm judging this is by feeling how much the tail sinks down after the speedbump and it seems that the closest match in ECOpro is the Comfort (default) setting. |
