Guys need some advice!!

Long story short, I took delivery of a factory order f10 that had some cosmetic issues (small scratch in the back where not visible to others but deep enough to put a finger nail in..)

So the dealer "took care" of it for me and the scratch is visible (white line) but no longer deep enough.

Now as I left the dealership to do some grocery shopping, I notice that there's a rock chip near the driver door handle!!

I called immediately and am being asked if I want to have both the door and panel repainted..

Any advice on what I should do? Is repainting a good option? The sales manager has been nice about things and has been helpful..

Pretty sad that my beloved f10 has all these bad things happening...

Pics ?

shopping cart, dents, stone chips, etc will happen sooner or later.

Mine has very tiny stone chips (mostly lower fender due to highway driving) and I just just used touch up paint. It is pretty obvious when I stand about 2 feet away and see there is a color shade difference in those affected area.

In your case, painting the entire door/panel repainted seemed very expensive. I guess the decision to do it will be a judgement call.

I'll post pics later when I get home.

I understand that these things will happen over time. The only reason this is a problem for me is because the first scratch happened before I took delivery and the chip by the door happened when they went to have the first scratch fixed..

As for the cost of it, the dealership will cover all of it and nothing will come out of my pocket.

You either live with the small scratches or else have the areas repainted at no cost to you. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Are you concerned that the paint job will be noticeable? Does your dealer work closely with paint shops in your area?

i'm just concerned with getting the car repainted as it will never be completely the same as it was when it was done in the factory. it should be done by certified bmw shops tho.

what i really want to know i guess, is if repainting a brand new car is a good idea or not? regardless of being a bmw certified body shop or not.

my gut feeling tells me that it should not be a problem tho.. but have heard otherwise..

I had my door repainted 2 months after taking delivery by a certified BMW bodyshop - there's no way anyone can tell a difference.

well, if it does not cost you a dime, then sure and get it repainted. Like you said, as long as the paint shop uses the correct paint formula. Otherwise, you are going to cry !

From my experiance any re-spray will never be match the original paint 100%, if the mark is not too bad, my advice is to leave as is.
