The BMW tech may check your pad thickness everytime you bring the car in. There is a sensor anyway where it will tell you when your pad is low, and from there, it is good about a couple thousand miles.

my rear brake pads have been saying 3k miles due for the pass 10k+ miles lol
I do alot high way driving, and When possible I try to take it easy on my brakes, I dont brake at last minute or hard if possible.
