Theory comes to crumble with the fact that no M5 was released in 2011 or 2012 (the production year that the N63 was widely used). It was released in 2013 with the TU cars, which is tune capable.

Ya I was referring to the 2013 m5, if tuning was available there would be a 2 year head start to tune for more power with the 550 before the m5 was available.

It's anyone's guess. The end result is non-TU owners are screwed from a flash standpoint lol.

From what I understand or have heard about tu vs. non tu, is the ecu. One made by Siemens and the tu made by Bosch. I believe Bosch is more "hackable".

At this point, there is a good chance that there wont be any support for the N63 (not tu) in terms of re-flash. Since the new Gxx series is coming out with a very different computers, most tuners, including ourselves, are starting development for the new platform. With efforts going towards the new computers, there wont be much chance of support for the older MSD Siemens N63.
I wish I had better news, but that is just reality at this point. |

That's really a shame because most of the older cars are coming out of warranty and it's a perfect time to tune. You would think there would be more demand for cars 2011-2012 than newer.

Gintani, BPC, Badblack550xi and Mission Performance all have Flashes available for the N63 (non tu).
They all make more power than the JB4 BETA/BCM. Last edited by 535_BiTurbo; 12-08-2017 at 04:39 PM.. |

Best I have gotten at track on pump gas with BMS Stage beta running Dinan intake, exhaust, intercollers is a 12.3 at ATCO. WHEN SPRING COMES I plan on going to bad black and also add rebuilt Alphina turbos and M5 downpipes. Badblack has been working with this series of BMW and knows his stuff. He also has in intake he designed and other performance parts for n63.
I am sure with other mods and a flash tune this car can get into 11’s. Badblack holds record currently on fastest RECORDED time. A lot of people talk smack on the forums but I would say badblack and myself have done the most work on our cars. I have about 1000 hours of mid work in last three years and I am sure he dwarfs me. I must say coming into the forum as a new member I had no idea that BadBlack was the one who designed the Intakes off of n63intake.com
Hands down the first video I go to when showing someone the potential of the quality of sound obtainable by my car. I used his design as a platform to build my set up as well. Although this probably is frustrating to him I hope he can understand that some of us just simply can't afford his. I as an example am 28. I have 2 sons, and can barley afford the gas in this damn car lol. Yet I'm a car fanatic boost aholic and bmw groupie since almost birth. When the opportunity to be handed a 550 m sport came along , Black!? With a warranty!!! I had to take it. And rationalize me owning it almost everyday because of the warranty. Il be selling mine now that it has 0 miles on the motor and turbo, it only makes sense. But I would literally give anything to be able to have the income y'all have to afford a manual 550 or s63. Even more so the mods you do!! Which is why I say hey, with more designs like blacks and pioneers willing to take a leap into the unknown. New mods are created. Which eventually are replicated and marketed at lower cost and thus creating an eventual price decrease on mods. I hate not being able to afford the mods I want. I am sure they're are a couple different people on here that feel the same way. So the potential to decrease pricing sounds exciting and is something I hope Black doesn't take too personal and understands where we come from as lower income car guys. |

Yes, it is a Non TU and the JB4 Beta. I did this last year at ATCO in NJ and I think my traps at the end were 102-105 in quarter.
Was not running racing fuel, just some octane booster which I didnt think worked well. After I was done a few guys from the forum here met up and it was suggested I use TORQUE Octane booster and others there thought I should have been in the high 11's or lower 12's with the appropriate Octane. I am also running AWD which allows for much better traction at start line, but HP loss in general. Once the weather is warmer, I will complete my M5 brembo brake install, put on the Alphina turbos and install M5 downpipes. My estimated guess is that since the M5 puts out 600 FPT, and my car should be in that area for same power, the large M5 pipes should work well with my performance goals without a CEL light. |
