Anyone do a resonator delete?
Anyone do a resonator delete for a 535i? Really don't like how quiet my F10 is. I just put a VRSF catless downpipe and was hoping it'd be a little louder. I had an E90 with VRSF dp's and removed the resonator and it sounded perfect. Just wondering if anyone has gone this route and if they liked it/noticed a difference in sound.
If you did a catless dp and resonator delete, please chime in. I've heard/seen the vids of a muffler delete but don't like the sound of it. Just want to hear what it sounds like before I bite the bullet and do it. Thanks! |

Muffler delete is no good on the F10. I had a vrsf DP with a muffler delete and it sounded cheap. I ended up removing the DP and putting a straight through with j pipes and it got tolerable. The only decent setup I've heard through a video is the armytrix exhaust.
Also also ask FenixMike as he has done this mod recently. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1147883

Yeah I saw fenixmike's but wasn't sure if his just sounded different because of his being a 550. Maybe I'll just open my stock mufflers and see if I can modify it internally like the e90 guys do to make it sound like the MPE. |

Kyddo112 resonator delete is much nicer and cleaner than muffler delete!
I'd say go for it , its also easier to go back to than the muffler delete and should cost less. I guess it all depends on the sound you're looking for as someone will like resonator delete + muffler delete + catless dp together and some do 1 or 2

I've not made a video yet. I tried doing it myself but from within the car it doesn't come out right. I need an extra person to record it. I can tell you its slightly more mild then the golf t mod. The problem with the 535 and muffler delete was not only did it sound like a Honda, it had unbearable drone for a DD. After putting in the straight throughs it sounded much better, but the drone was still unacceptable for DD. After doing the j pipes it eliminated the drone, but also gave the overall tone a more mild deep bass sound. The j pipes take over after about 2500 rpm and then it goes quite so all muffler noise is from take off or cruising in a low rpm. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's part of my on going exhaust experiment with the f10. After fenixmike removed his resonator and mentioned no difference I became hesitant due to the confirmed drone from my testing. I have my stock mufflers and thought about gutting them too. I happy happy to sell them to you if you're interested for your experiment.
My next move is I'm considering putting electric exhaust valves at the end of my j pipes to have more control of the sound.
