Intake Pressure Sensor

Hello All,

I just got my car back from the dealer, took it in for engine shutter, expecting new valves and instead ended up with a couple new Pressure sensors for the Intake.

I was told there are 4 pressure sensors, but only two had failed throwing the code (40214 Faulty Charge Air Pressure Sensors).

What could cause this to go bad?

So far the shutter is gone, but that is with only 15 miles of driving, was this the correct solution?

Would these sensors go bad due to a JB stage 1 tune?

When I am stopped at a traffic light, I get random shutters that you feel through the steering wheel, The RPM's remain steady, yet you can feel drops in pressure. Happens for a couple of seconds then its gone.

This has been going on for over a year, but recently it started to become much more frequent.

I've put on another 150 miles since yesterday, things appear to be some what better, had a couple minor shutters, but no where near the frequency as before. Not sure if they actually fixed it.

I have about 40k miles now on my 2011, would spark plugs be a cause?

Badblack, I am starting to lean towards the conclusion that JB is not at fault either. I was reading that some other owners had similar issues after the battery charge reached below 50%, I replaced my battery maybe 3 weeks ago due to quick discharge.

Are you sure it's just not a dirty maf? Have you checked plugs? In the past I've had shuttering caused by leaky fuel injectors. If the battery was low you should be throwing codes, but then again a leaky fuel injector should throw a code too. Oh yes, and the notorious hpfp.

I assume they replaced 2 of the MAFs or something similar. I will check today when I re install the JB

Cleaned HFAMM (MAF) and TMAP sensors http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1232575

Another place to always look is under the F30 forums where there is a lot more activity same engine N55/N20 unless you're rocking the n63tu?

N63, I wish it was the TU. Honestly, I'll never be able to purchase a 4 cylinder again without feeling miserable.
