Suspension Rumble

Anyone else suffer from this??

If I drive over normal bumpy roads my car sounds great, just the usual thud you get from a well built car. If I drive over VERY bumpy stuff my car feels like its only worth £20 to the point where I try and avoid bad roads. It actually feels as if the suspsnsion mounts on the front are lose and the rear thumps like everything is slack. It is maybe just these rubbish run flats, not sure never had run flats before my last 535d did not have them.

i did read somewhere (cant find the post now, not even sure it was on here) that someone else had the same issue, went back to the dealer and they could not fix it. Cant find the post to see if the guy got it fixed or not.

It is just maybe a trate of the new car but it is a bit dissapointing to say the least

Hi Paulmc

I have had the same problem on my Sept 2010 model GT. Running on 20" wheels with RFT which doesn't help. Had a query with BMW on th correct tyre pressures and they have now said that they should be 2.5 front and 2.6 rear. Strange, cause when I complained about the ride at the last service they sent the car back to me with 2.2 bar pressures front & rear. Makes the ride much more pleasant but not sure what it will do to tyre wear in the longer term. In preference, I have increased the pressure to 2.3 front and 2.4 rear and this seems to provide a compromise. Also found that using Sports mode on really bumpy roads stops the front end "suspension rattle".

Also got the problems with uneven tyre wear on the rears as lots of other GT owners have. There is a separate thread on this.

I agree on sport mode it is fine. I just bought 20" non RFT so see if this helps once fitted.
