A minor thing but it removed an irritation.

In my E60, if you wanted an extra sweep of the wipers when on the auto setting, it would drop out to manual. You would either have to push auto on again or keep using the wipers on manual.

With the F10, if you push the stalk down when in auto setting - it stays in auto. Much better.

Told you it was a minor thing...

What year was your E60 from? Mine was Sep-2008 and it stayed in auto…

It was delivered to me in September 2007 but it didn't have the upgrade that September build cars got. (If I recall correctly, there was a modest power boost and drop in CO2 for cars after mine...)

My MY08 535i had the same problem. An extra manual swipe would turn off the auto function. Mine was a very early March 07 build.
It is nice that the F10 has corrected this oversight.

Mine was a Sep-2008 build (probably MY2009) 530d and the extra manual swipe wouldn't turn the auto function off. Thus, I think BMW corrected that way before the F10 was introduced.

If you say they did - then they did!

However, it's like magic pixy dust to Gilgorm and I!

One cool feature is the ability to stop the car from the passenger seat....

When driving you can actually stop the car by pulling the park brake switch (and holding it). When you pull the park brake it will apply the cars brakes (front and rear) and bring the car to a quick stop. It's an emergency feature should the driver go into a situation were he cannot operate the vehicle anymore, then the passenger can perform an emergency stop by using the park brake (you need to pull it until the car has stopped - otherwise it disengages the brakes again)!

(Just try it)

I tried this several times today, but could not get the mirrors to fold in this way.

Mine doesn't either. Must be Space Grey cars. LOL.
I think this has to be coded in N. America.

If you open the door while in D, the car will automatically put the car into P. Was surprised when I first encountered this nice safety feature.

Have you noticed that the passenger side cup holder is deeper than the drivers side? You would think the driver would need the deeper hole to hold the extra large coffee.

VERY minor thing I just discovered: The inside of the door of the small storage area on the left/bottom of the dash contains a pen holder. Seems like a silly thing to post, but I can't tell you how many times I needed a pen and had to reach over and rummage through the glove box to find one.

Will this damage the car in any way? I've always been weary of using the park break while the car is in motion.

Funny thing about that...it is slightly wonky. I walk up the car with nothing in my hands wave my foot under for fun and the trunk pops right open.

I walk up to the car with my arms full boxes higher than my head and wave my foot around for 30 seconds looking like a jackass playing footsie with his car...I end up putting the boxes down and using my hands.

Oh well.

On the e89 this electronic brake, when activated at speed, does not apply the parking brake but actually applies all four hydraulic brakes to bring the car to an emergency stop.

The same applies to the F10 as stated above. It doesn't engage the parking brake but operates the hydraulic brake system.

I find that opening the trunk with your feet is quite easy if you give it a second. I just make a kicking motion under the trunk (but don't hit the underside) and wait about a half second, it'll open. Works every time for me.
