So I installed M6 mufflers and the sounds is great. I'm currently working on something that will an a vacuum option to the rear (535i don't have this). Along with the OEM valve I hope to complete in 2 weeks. I'll keep you posted.

If anybody know the pigtail/harness for the OEM valve, please let me know.

Do you need this if you only installed the mufflers from axle back?

AMTF10 You don't need those items if your just installing the mufflers from the axle back.
The M6 and M5 mufflers are close enough to be the same. You will need to transition from 2.5 to 3" piping and modify hangers.

Just fyi, this is what Jason from exhaustmeister sent me awhile back. I'm too lazy to go through the process but it's definitely possible.

'If the mounts are present, I see no reason you couldn't add the vacuum actuated valves to each side. That would be a cheap junkyard part. The next step would be routing a vacuum line from the engine to the trunk space to interconnect to the Pierburg Vacuum Switch (cheap to buy). Then you would need to connect the muffler valve vacuum lines to the Pierburg Switch. After that you could install an ExhaustMeister. Since your car lacks the switch from the factory, you would need to run a +12 volt supply to the ExhaustMeister. That part is easy since the battery is in the trunk.'

It's a little bit of work but sounds possible. If you go that route and get all of the components in place, you would just need to cut the male connector off of the ExhaustMeister harness and direct wire to the battery in the trunk.

I am running the vacuum from the engine bay to the rear. I found the vacuum source from a 525i. Testing the vacuum this weekend.

Do you have the pigtail/harness for the Pierburg Vacuum Switch?
I also need to know where this goes to. The switch is cheap and easy to buy.

Finally got to my testing and figured out a way to make the quad exhaust with valves work on a 535i.
I'll start a new thread with the details in the next couple of days.

This picture clarifies (for me at least) why BMW moved the Comfort Access and TPMS modules on the M5. That proximity to the tips will surely damage them in no time.

Thanks for the pic. I've always wondered where it was.

From what I've read on here, J/X pipes are use to reduce drone at low rpms. I currently have M5 mufflers and there is a little drone at low rpms but it doesn't really bother me.

The mufflers them selves will be axle back.

Do you just have the muffler on without the j or the x?
