Sorry if this has been asked, but I can't seem to find a solid answer.

I have a 2012 535i xdrive M-sport and planning to install ACS springs (they are still in their box.)
I purchased a set of 343m wheels with stock M5 PSS tires.
The 265 and 295 tires and very meaty and are for sale now.

Today I got a set of Michelin PSS in 245/35/20 installed in the front and I'm not sure I like how much they seem stretched. There is a 4 finger gap from the fender.

For rear tires I have a set of PSS 285/30/20 on order (to keep the rolling diameter the same).
Another tire dealer suggests it's better to go with 275/30 in the rear to accommodate the ACS springs.

Again, not sure I'll like the 275 tire stretched on the rear rim.

So my question is: Will a 255 and 285 set work with the ACS springs? Or will it rub?

What do you fellow enthusiasts think is the best combo:
245 + 275
245 + 285
255 + 285

I have a 2013 535 xDrive. I have those same rims; M5. My fronts are 245/35/20 and the rears are 275\30\20. It will not rub.


I am ready for those ACS springs.

Thanks for the pics. Your car looks great. It doesn't even look to me as needing springs. IMHO.
My x drive sits a lot higher upfront. I can easily put 4 fingers between the tire and the fender.
In any case I got a set of acs springs from ac schniter in Cali. It was 610 shipped. Hope this helps. My set is still in the box unopened.

Haven't thought about selling the springs yet, just got them a week ago . I'll sort out the tires and will see about using or not using the springs.
If you're in a hurry may want to look into getting them directly from ACS. Andreas is a super guy to deal with.

IMHO:
The rear tire looks spot on.
The 255 upfront looks a bit too meaty, while I was running with a 245 for a few weeks and it looked too stretched and exposed the bead.

Next mod: install of ACS springs.

I think the car looks great. I like the look of 255's over 245's on a 9" wheel.

Out of curiosity why didn't you keep the rear 295's and just buy 255s for the front?

P.S. Front lip would finish your car off perfectly.

I have a Hamman Style front lip and it totally transforms the car.
I took it off last winter before a long snowy road trip and the car instantaneously lost it's aggressiveness.

OP, you need to keep in mind that you have a xdrive model, so your tolerances for tire height, circumference and revs per mile will be considerably smaller. You need to ensure that all three of the fore-mentioned are close to each other to avoid damage to the transfer case and AWD system. You must also remember (for future reference) to keep the same tire brands for all four corners as some tire manufacturers are known to produce narrower or wider than their printed width suggests. Always follow the reading of a trusted tire calculator website such as the one I am providing in my post. This will help you to see what effect different tire sizes will have in relation to what size you already have and the size you aim to equip.

Tire 1 as shown below in the left column is the size you are running now. Lets just call that the front tire size. Tire 2 as shown in the right hand column is the size you hope to run in the rear (remember that this calculator wouldn't be necessary if you were running all 4 of the same sizes and it is extremely uncommon if not unheard of to put two different tire sizes side by side - think 245 on the front left and 275 on the front right- so this calculation is designed for those seeking to see the differences in tire dimension on a staggered set up).

Disregard the tire width as that's expected to increase with a wider tire. Pay special attention to rest (the following):
- Sidewall height
- Overall diameter
- Circumference
- Revs per mile

Calculation with 275/30/20



Take note of the differences on the far right column named "Difference"

Observe the Speedometer difference above the "Clear Form" section.

Now, do you see how the 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 is a much better match than the 245/35/20 and 275/30/20? Keep this in mind before any tire related adjustments and you will be fine!

I agree the 245/35 and 285/30 is the exact match in terms of OD and matches the OEM 245/40R19 setup as well.

The only issue I have with the 245 Michelin PSS on the 9" wide rim is that it looks stretched and exposes the bead a bit.
