I sanded the chrome off my grills last year. Worked fine. I used steel wool for a smooth finish. Gloss black is best IMO. Painted grills will chip.
Here's the theme I am getting from this thread - buy a set of grills you like. The bezels and slats / louvres are removable so you can make a combination of chrome and gloss or whatever. |
