Window wrap - first attempt

Decided to wrap my window trim with gloss black vinyl, after watching many youtube videos I decided to take the plunge. So far have done 2 pillars and the bottom strip. Hairdryer for heat shrink and credit card to push into place. I will let you know if it holds up. I figured I would have a go at this considering places are wanting £250 for just the pillars!

Looks professional in real life - shadows are making it look bad!

I like the contras of Chrome with the dark colours, so not with you on this one! I guess it will work if you go the full length, i.e. black or dark grey wheel and door strips!

Will look good when it's finished - chrome makes it look like something from the 1970s

A few update pictures for you, I ran out of vinyl :-( Most it was wasted on trial and error. So will kind of look odd when I roll up to work in this...

Looking to get some 18" M-Sport or 19" wheels soon at the right price!

Looks excellent, nice work. Until you finish people will think you've got a replacement door from a scrap yard :-)

On a scale of one to ten, where ten is impossible, how easy would you say it was, such that other people might be prepared to give it a go?

Honestly I would say it was a 9/10 when I first started because I did not use a hairdryer. But after a while and using a hairdryer the seals soften up meaning you can push it down into them. I would say it was an 8/10 now purely on the basis that some of the rubbers at the top of the door is literally a hair between the chrome and the door. So a lot of it is free-hand which is why I left the top til last to spare my temper. If you are going to wrap body panels I would say it was a 4/10 purely because you have a guide line for cutting.

I actually have a can of plastic dip next to me while I write this but I was not keen on a matte look, even with the glossifer it is not 100%. And my idea was to keep it OEM.

If you want to give it a go I will link you to the vinyl I used from ebay, start on the easy pieces first and build up your confidence. Or anyone in the West Mids who wants a hand let me know!

I will write a guide when I have completed this project with a whole bunch of additional pictures to show the stages..

Great info, thanks for that, hopefully that will help someone.

I don't need to wrap mine because it looks like this (and I like the chrome grill surround...)

Those wheels you have are the ones I am after, just can't find them on ebay at the moment. Expecting to pay about £1k with tyres...

Yes, they are the 351M's I have too, lovely wheels, and easy to keep clean too

Saw that, but one of them is battered. Would rather buy the set together. There is a set for 1k but too far away up in Cheshire and I don't have fold down seats to transport them. No rush, will keep looking..

Have my eye on these at the moment, but not sure if they look too small on the f10.

I have the 19" wheels. I personally find that having a darker colour and the larger wheels really take the size out of the car, if that makes any sense. I parked near a silver F11 on smaller wheels recently and it looked enormous in comparison to mine.

Between the wheels (assuming you find some!) and the wrap your car is going to look excellent.
