thinking of upgrading idrive to nav
my car is 2013 f10 LCI 520i with below options from factory
* bluetooth * led * rear camera * the new multifunction lcd dash (not extended) * comfort access * automatic tailgate 1) what is the difference between nbt and cic? are they different versions of nav idrive? i currently have the small screen idrive. 2) thinking of getting it done by a guy the dealer recommended that uses all original bmw parts. yes the dealer recommended because he wants to sell me a car from current stock that doesn't have nav and he actually drove me to the installer. 3) the cost of nav from factory for me was over 15k (100tax on options + no discount on list price on custom orders). cost of retrofit is ~3k. 4) anything i need to be aware of as a hidden cost/consequence of a retrofit? 5) the dealer can also do a HK hifi upgrade (i have base 6 speaker system) but that cost 4k mainly because of labour so I am going the custom route for that. I did that with technic harness on my e90lci and the dealer never said anything and actually gave me good deal on the trade in for the f10 so they don't seem to care about aftermarket add ons as long as its done professionally.

Akhter,
As I mentioned to you via pm, the main issue is when you need to go back to BMW for issues requiring reprogramming/recoding your car. BMW's service center runs on pre-defined scripts and if any ECUs are different than BMW AG's record, the programming scripts will halt, even if the problematic ECUs are not the ones you have retrofitted. What people usually do, is retoring the car to factory config before sending the car in to BMW for major service. If you have good relationship with the BMW service people, they will tell you to do the same and they will perform the upgrade for you. And you can "restore" your retrofit after they are done. This is the pain of the retrofit. So you will have to decide..... i get around this by e-sys re-coding/re-programming myself......
