Ride Quality; BC vs KW V1s
Hey guys,
I'm currently debating between the BCs and the KW V1s. I am looking for comfort. Which one is going to give me the best ride quality? I am not going to "slam" the car and its not going to be tracked. Thanks! |

You might want to consider the KW Street Comfort coilover set then.

Look at the V3's if you're concerned that the V1's are too stiff. The V3's are highly adjustable from fairly soft to very firm.
This chart compares their various products and shows the wide range of adjustability of the V3's. http://www.kwautomotive.com.au/wp/wp...img.jpg?505cb0 |

Every single person with KW's loves them wether its the V1, V2 or V3. Everyone says its how BMW should have came from the factory. I will have a set of V1's installed in a week so i'll let you know how they feel. Alan

I'm getting ready to do the same and dump that standard suspension on my MSport that's becoming very annoying with all the bounciness. I actually ordered a set of CKS coilovers with Swift linear springs a few months back, but CKS was having issues of some sort and after 6 weeks of waiting I cancelled the order - life got in the way after that so I haven't done anything with the suspension. I'll be very interested to read your impressions of the V1's. I like the price point, but was thinking the V2's or V3's give me some room for adjustability if I don't like the ride of the V1's. I'm going to check on CKS again, reason being is that they custom build each set so you can tailor the valving to your preferences, plus they're fully adjustable like the V3's at a V1 price point. But, as you mentioned, I have yet to read a bad review on KW's so probably best to do it right the first time as one reviewer pointed out. |

I know i swore up and down against coilovers but yet i always seem to end up with them on all of my cars. I think my negative experience with my previous FK coils put a really sour taste in my mouth. Thats my fault for going with a unproven "cheap" set of coilovers on my 335. I too considered CKS but i came across a few reviews where people said the car rides pretty stiff with them. I saw more than a few posts saying the same thing about them so I decided to just go with KW. My reason for going V1's is simply I don't want to leave it up to myself to dial in my car. Hard to do on a public road. In my past experience when the suspension is set up too soft the car will bounce on dips. I ended up adjusting my Fk's almost to full stiff just to prevent it from bouncing when i had people in the car going over consecutive dips. I figure V1's are set from the get go and should feel/handle better than what I have now.
The 550 is a beast and I can walk away from an M3 barely even trying but handling is still very floaty on the highway.

I know this is not the two your talking ab, but i have Megans and the ride quality is pretty damn good. I had KW's on my e46 M3 (i know its a diff car) but I have been really impressed with the Megans on my F10

How is the ride compared to stock in terms of reduction in the pitching/rocking/floatiness over uneven surfaces? Did you leave the V3's at factory rebound and compression settings? Thanks. |

My stock ride was the 704 M suspension, but with the KWv3 there's a lot less pitching and floatiness. Body roll in corner was redused too, but the M5/550d sway bars really helped reducing the body roll in corners. You do feel it's a stiffer car over rough surface, but it's better than my e90 on KWv2. And I don't think it can get much better if you want to have a f10 with no wheel gap. If I remember correctly the rebound is pretty much at factory setting, but I increased the compression some.

Hands down I have to recommend the KW Suspensions V1 coilovers. The ride matches that of the classic Bilstein Sport shock paired with H&R Sport springs. When it comes to suspensions I'm normally a set it and forget it driver, unless I'm tracking the car. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this setup, but if you aren't adjusting the ride height I would look into H&R/Bilstein combo for the F10!
