New 550i owner
Picked up my 2016 M package a few days before Christmas. I'm coming from a 2011 750i which I had a love/hate relationship with. That car had constant "cold start" issues and once my CPO expired in June I was terrified of the next repair.
Loving my new ride. I ended up doing an executive demo lease..something I'd never heard of until this forum. I got a solid/not spectacular deal. Ended up getting $10k off MSRP for a relatively full loaded car with $3k miles. My only regret is the Jet Black. I'm coming from two previous Metallica Black cars..but this one is harder to keep clean. I'm considering an Opti Coat or a Ceramic but I've never done anything like that so I'm a little out of my element. Love this engine. And I'm loving the options. The tech advances from 2011 to 2016 are impressive. Executive, Luxury Seats, M, Lighting and Drive Assistance Plus. So far loving the Nappa and the HUD...plus the overall M profile. I'm gonna put on 20" wheels (can't decide if black rims will look good or get washed in). Needs a tint and some type of coating to make the shine stay on longer. Maybe after that I'll start doing some crazy mods like the rest of you lunatics. This site has been phenomenal. After leasing like 7 cars I finally understand the process and how to best negotiate after this site. Which is a little embarrassing but oh well. Never too late to score a future great deal. |

Nice Ride man!
Def do a ceramic coating, it will be totally worth it. a paint correction and ceramic coating can run up to 1200-1500 check out csII, cquartz finest, modesta bc04 you can go to their websites and find authorized detailers. or you can do the paint correction and coating yourself. Also, if you wash your own car, i'd suggest investing in a gas or electric pressure washer and a foam cannon. Ceramic coating + foam cannon/pressure washer will help prevent 100% of swirls caused by washing. All this is totally worth it, specially if your car is stored in a garage at home. I did the ceramic coating myself, and the gloss for a space grey car is just so deep!! on a black car it will be spectacular! |

Congrats on the car and welcome!
As for keeping it clean, I do recommend getting a pressure washer and a foam canon. The one I use for my car is ChemicalGuys My 2¢ is stay away from black on black. I would recommend Gun Metal Black for rim color. |

OP, beautiful ride! Enjoy in good health. I actually have a question regarding the pressure washer and foam cannon. I have a pressure washer, but have yet to get a foam cannon. In terms of it preventing swirls, is the process that you solely use the pressure washer and foam cannon to wash the car? No need to actually take a wash mitt to it??? Sorry for my ignorance here and I don't mean to thread jack.

Beautiful F'10!
Dont go too crazy with the Jet Black. It's beautiful when up kept right and harder than hell to keep that way. Been there done that and it was the last black car I've ever owned lol!

Thanks! I really wanted to go alpine white or one of the gray's but with the Demo's you've got to take what comes in.
