What's been the favorite car you've ever owned?

I would have to say mine was e46 M3 Cabriolet.

Bought it pre-owned from a non-BMW dealer too...So young and uninformed lol!

First car I ever wanted to mod and it was my first M car too.

My 2005 Acura TL 6-spd. With A-Spec suspension installed, it handled beautifully. The manual transmission was buttery smooth to operate, and the V6 had decent pull. But that was a car for a time with no wife and kids. Now I need an auto and room to carry everything. The 535i certainly fits the bill perfectly now that i have a wife and kid.

For me it'd definitely have to be the first car I ever purchased... in this case my LCI F10 550i.

Love this thing in every way possible.

I like that I can throw it in Comfort+ and it drives like a boat and leans and lurches everywhere like an SUV.

I like that I can throw it into Sport+ and it drives like an M car and can compete with almost anything on the road.

I like it all.

The car I fell in love with was the car I learned to drive stick in - a '72 Datsun 240Z. But my favorite car to own was a '96 Nissan Skyline GTR (R33) that I owned for 3 years over in the UK. I wish I could have afforded to bring it back with me to the US.

Without a doubt my E36 M3, I still miss that car to this day. I'm sure I'll never own another car that had that much driver involvement and heavenly steering feel.

Mine was the 1990 Nissan 300zx TT I owned for 19 years - https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=154074887

traded in for this 535 recently. I've had many cars over the years but I would say that so far, this 535 is probably overall the best car I've owned. Not as nimble or fast as my stage III Z, but what this car lacks compared, is more than made up for when it comes to long distance runs!

LOL, I actually had to garage it for a couple of years due to emissions failure and I was not able to source the pre-cats for it. Even tires that fit became difficult to find. Of course it is not been a requirement for this car to to pass emissions for some time now, in addition to other work I wanted to do on it (stage IV maybe), new paint, other upgrades, I just decided to dump it and get a BMW since I've always wanted one.

Loved that car but between parts availability and having to spend a couple of grand every other year or so on it, and although is was mostly my DD, I work from home - hence the low miles, it just wasn't too cost effective to keep it.

I am totally in love with my BMW, especially after recently doing an 1800 mile round trip. Never got tired on either leg of the trip, and I've made this trip hundreds of times over the last 30 years with several different cars and the difference this car made put a big smile on my face :-)

I'm not missing the ZOOM ZOOM!

I'd have to say my first car, which was given to me free in high school: E34 525. While it was slow and bulky, it lasted forever and was very comfortable. Plus in high school, the BMW roundel alone had everyone thinking it was something special. Painted it black from that hideous champagne color, blacked it all out, and added some Dinan upgrades and I loved it until 200k miles

Next would be my current car. While I could always afford my cars, my non existent credit always forced me to get cosigners (worked under the table for family, no CCs or anything). But finally on this one, I built my credit up and was able to get a nearly fully loaded 535d in my name alone. Great feeling and really makes me appreciate this one more

Maybe a bit blasphemous.... but I loved my 01 D2 S8. 360hp at a time where that was pretty significant. I got it from my uncle on the very cheap in 2003. He put 80k on it driving for work and was shocked at the depreciation when he went to trade it in. I picked it up for a song as he just did not want to hand it over to the dealer for that low of a price.

I drove it until 200k and traded it on my E60 4 years later. Just starting my career in 03 and I had the same car as the President at my first job! I did however work on it every weekend as something always broke and I was too broke to pay a garage!! Full set of control arms 3x, new driveshaft, new CVs all around, 3 tranny flushes, new water pump, head gasket, various plastic vessels, etc. I learned a lot about cars in that period of my life!

My R8 V10 is the first car I've bought with the intention of keeping indefinitely. I followed the R8 since its launch, always hesitating to make such a big purchase. But in 2014, when the last of the gen-1 model years (2015) was launching, and I caught a glimpse of the gen-2 design, I knew it was time to pull the trigger. I spec'd it out and bought the car new in August 2014, and I haven't looked back since. It's an incredibly awesome machine - from style through driving feel, engine, etc. It's a keeper... especially with everything going turbo-charged, the sound and feel of a high-revving naturally aspirated V10 behind your head is really hard to come by.

Aside from the R8, which has been in a class of its own as far as my "typical" cars have gone, my first car (an '01 325i) is probably the one I think most fondly of to this day. It had a mere 184hp, but she was a fantastic car. I bought it new out of college and put 125k miles on that car. The NA I6 was buttery smooth and a pleasure to put your foot into from day 1 to the day I sold it. This was a time when the 3-series was a smaller car, and after I lowered it and put some Koni adjustable shocks on it, it handled like a go-kart. My DD's have since gotten bigger, much more powerful, more luxurious, etc... but there's something that will always remain special about that e46 for me... and probably no small part of that emotion attributed to the fact that it was my first car.

This! http://www.caranddriver.com/photo-ga...-w-lap-video#5

OK, I haven't owned one -- damn few have or can -- but I'd be all over this car if Volkswagen would bring it here. Everything a serious gearhead could desire plus the highly desirable trait of functional obscurity. I'd buy 10.

My favorite has to be this,

69XR7 Cougar in Gulfstream Aqua Metallic. Owned since 1989. It was my neighbors car when I was a boy, and I fell it love with it. Bought it if 89' and owned it ever since. Factory 351 M code, now has a 428/427 as well.

Second favorite is probably this.

My wife's 428, before she went back to the 535.
