Hey guys,
I own 2016 F10 (535i x-drive). It's such a great car and I've been really enjoying it. I am currently living in Germany and ordered my car here and got it. However, I have a speed limiter that kicks in around 135MPH (This kills me and embarrasses me when 3 series was passing me at 155MPH). I recently found trusted auto shop that does removal of a speed limiter and engine tune up which would give me around 355 HP with 430 (roughly) torque feet at around 550 euro. My question is do I need to change tires to performance ones since I just have all season tires which, as far as my knowledge goes, was designed only for a certain speed up to 135MPH. If so, what kind of tires would you recommend? Need some experts' opinion on this. Thanks! Han |

Yeah you don't have the 840 high speed synchronization. I would be more concerned about the loss of the warranty over having the DME tune. what tires do you have on the car?

It's GOOD YEAR 245 all season tires. So as far as I know, only removing the speed limiter wouldn't be noticed by dealership? Engine tune up can be risky cuz dealership would notice it ? Thanks. |

Goodyear LS2's? I wouldn't do triple digit speeds on those.
High speed synchronization can be added to the VO for free, giving you 155mph limiter. A tune of course will cost. The dealer won't likely ever notice you have a tune, but should you ever have engine failure and PUMA gets involved they will see it. |

Goodyear LS2's are arguably some of the shitiest tires on the road, that came factory spec'd on a BMW. Certainly the worst we got on the F10.
Free if you have a laptop, a ENET cable and download/install ESYS. Vehicle Order is your vehicles options list. You need to add 840 to the VO and program the vehicle to reflect the new VO. |

LS2 are the worst tires I've driven on, I luckily only had to suffer through them for a short while before my nice wheels and tires were in.
It would seem odd that you'd have trouble adding a specific code to the VO, I've added and seen many added. Adding 840 to the VO, calculating FP and writing VO to DME should return 250km/h. If for some odd reason that doesn't work all the more reason to get a tune and have the DME coded to remove VMAX altogether. |
