XL Tires on 2012 535IX

If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate ..

I'm looking to get new tires for my 2012 535IX - My car game with Goodyears that are 245 45r18's - Looking in the door jam it shows the correct size as 245 45r18 xl -The manual lists a series of replacements most are XL's and 1 is not - Im so confused - Was looking at Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires - I cant even find any XL tires anywhere..

Help Please

So are you loking for those Bridgestone tires in 245/45/18? I don't find them in that size on tirerack.

The XL refers to the Load Index of the tire.

Thanks for the reply

I was hoping the Bridgestones came in an XL but it looks like they don't - Choices seem to be pretty limited if I want to stick with a Runflat - So I'm guessing we need XL's due to the weight of the car?

Does that mean I'm pretty much stuck with the Goodyear LS2's?? Are there any better runflats? If not, whats the best non-RFT all season tire?

My other option is picking up new wheels, getting snow tires etc.. gets too costly - I'm down to 2/32 treadwear on my current Goodyears with 25K miles which is 1 year of driving for me - Dont want to blow $1200 every year on tires..

Conti DWS might be a good non-RFT alternative.

Just installed Conti DWS today - ignore the reviews IMO that are negative.

I had the OEM RFT's, replaced with Michelin A/S 3 which were great, with one huge exception - they were awfully loud.

Fast forward to this morning - DWS installed, all tire noise gone. Compared to the Pilot A/S 3's the sidewalls are mabye 10-20% softer, honestly barely noticable. Haven't been able to push the DWS (until 500-600 mile break in) but I know they won't handle as good in as the A/S 3 in the dry at the limits, but for a 5er and street driving, they're superior. If I had an M5 or a much lighter car in general, I wouldn't go with the DWS. But... the 5er, especially the F10, is a luxury sport sedan, with greater emphasis on luxury.

Just my 2 cents.

Pilot Sport A/S 3 were 255/40/19 - they run wide and it shows.

DWS are 245/40/19 - they run narrow and it shows, especially compared to the Michelin's which are 10mm wider in size.
