Thumbs down Car Cover Mayhem

Recently purchased the oem cover for my f10 535 and have only had the car and the cover for a month. Cover has seen only two rain storms an no snow as of yet. Car has been eat off it clean when I covered it. Everytime i uncover the car i have smudges that will not come off and mutliple scratches all over. Ive tried claying the smudges, glazing and waxing, but i get nothing. To no avail of keeping the car clean, I refuse to use the cover i spent and arm and a leg for anymore. Tomorrow Im going to try washing it in the washer machine and see if that helps any.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? I have no clue WTF is going on, and what i can do to prevent this. As i have dark graphite, its a bitch to keep clean as it is, let alone w this bullshit going on. What do you guys think i should do if i wash the cover and still have the same results?

This is fairly common with car covers. When removing the cover and putting it back on, if the cover touches the ground, it is likely to pick up dirt especially around the elastic areas. This dirt then gets dragged along the car. Also, the cover will tend to get very dirty around the tire area and pick up a lot of grease. That grease then tends to smear the paint and especially the windows. To remove these scratches and swirls by hand is nearly impossible. You are going to need a DA polisher and some scratch remover. Trying to keep a dark graphite car clean is like a second job.

I always thought (was always told) it was bad to keep the car cover on when it rains (e.g. moisture, condensation, etc. will get trapped and can ruin the paint).

I have the OEM Car cover as well for my 535 and have had them on my last 2 BMWs. All Jet Black too. I have never had an issue with scratches or swirls. I also get smudging and trapped dust / dirt etc.. but no issue coming right off with a wash. The cover can be left on during the rain as the fabric can "breath" and will dry out very quickly. Give it a wash and see what happens. When putting it on i always put it on the front windshield first and roll it out to the front and back.
