I am trying to figure out which route I want to go with my F10. I want it to sound a little bit deeper then stock but I've listened to some videos of muffler deletes and it seems obnoxiously loud... Is there an inexpensive option (not Remus or ACS) to just give the car a nice sound but not crazy loud??
Also is there a point to get the AFE scorcher kit if in getting a AFE intake and a JB4? All help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I did the muffler delete on my 13 550xi. Bought a straight pipe set up from another member with eisenmann replica tips. Exhaust was loud and drony. I did some research and ended up adding two Flowmaster resonators part #14156. Car sounds amazing and I get minimal drone at about 1500 rpm but it really is negligible. Hope this helps!!!

In regards to droning... drive comfort mode on street and sport for the highway to eliminate or reduce droning dramatically -- though, a muffler delete might be a bit excessive in noise lol.

I did a muffler delete on my 535 and I think it sounds great..drone is minimal and it is not obnoxiously loud at all...compared to the price you would spend for an aftermarket exhaust this is by far the best bang for your buck..hope this helps

Still undecided about this. Muffler delete on a BMW is just pretty disgusting IMO

Well if you have 3-4k for a full exhaust there's no question about it. But on a leased vehicle a muffler delete, when done the right way, IMO is a very cost effective way to get more bang for your buck!!! My set up cost me 1k and I think it sounds better than a lot of those expensive brand exhausts. To each his own I guess!!!

The price for exhaust systems for these cars is Ludicrous. I understand higher manufacturing costs when built in US or EU. But it's seems a bit excessive. I guess they've built in luxury taxes?.???!
I too am looking for a sport exhaust note for my 550 that I will be doing an ED on in June. But I do t want to spend a ton of money as it's a 3-yr lease. I'm also not thrilled about putting together my own Frankenstein-exhaust. Although, @trelos78... Yours sounds quite nice! |
