Guys On The Forum With BMS For 550i

I just wanted to ask three questions:
1. Do you hear the Turbo more with the Tune?
2. Do you feel a difference or just know its there?
3. Did it affect your gas mileage? I am expecting worse than stock...

Hopefully you're joking for #2.

The power increase is clearly noticeable. As are performance times for 0-60 and 1/4 mile. The gains are even greater with 100 octane and the boost turned up further.

I've just put the tune back today after not having it in for the past two weeks.

1. I couldn't really tell a difference in the amount of turbo spool with and without the tune installed
2. You can definitely feel a little more power in the lower RPMs but at the higher RPMs you can definitely feel the power from the extra boost.
3. I haven't noticed any difference in gas mileage

all depending on the gas, more octane will give you more boost. and for the spool buy a downpipe

1. No....absolutely no difference to the level of perceptible sound coming from the engine.....both with the windows open and closed.

2. Definitely, 100%. You will know its there the instant you start to drive the car after the install of the bms tune. Actually, because Terry had to swap out my harness cable, I could really feel the difference the tune made when I uninstalled it and had to drive the car without the tune. Felt like a far less powerful car. On that note, after driving with this tune installed for several months and with no problems, I have become used to the power and increased throttle response and feel like this is the baseline normal for the vehicle. But sadly to say, the wow factor has somewhat diminished for me.

3. I have not seen any appreciable change in gas mileage. I would say that it's been the same before and after the bms stage 1 tune.

Stage 2 is on its way. Fear not. Well at least for us 2011-2013 550 guys. There is no plan to support 2014+ with the newer n63tu as it had a different ecu setup. Glad I didn't switch to a 2014.

Yes good thing the 2014 has 50more hp stock.
Stage one is a 20-25 hp gain.
Stage 2 better be over 50.
Then just maybe you will have the hp that the N63tu motor has stock. Then again stage 1 works for 14s

There isn't one 2014 dyno that I've seen.

Stage 2 will not work with 2014 and only will work with 2011-2013 cars

45 crank HP is not 45 wheel hp... my 550xi pushes 421.5 WHP/ 467.9 WTQ on stang dyno... if you are going to strap it on any other dyno add another 20% and if you want to measure crank power i am well over 500HP and probly 550TQ

Yes I'm aware of a Mustang dyno vs dyno jet. I've built and owned 2 cobras one svt one Shelly and a zo6.

With your all wheel drive set up. 20-25 percent loss. Vs just rwd cars 15-20%

But I think your taking my msgs in the wrong way.
I am very jealous that you 11-13 boys get the stage 2.
But the reason I'm even taking the time to write this stuff
Is because you and Scott were saying how you lucky
You didn't get the 14 etc when 14s stock make the same power at the wheels
That a stage 2 2013 will.

2014 does not make the same power as stage 1 how would it make as much as stage 2 ?

2013 starts with 400hp
2014 starts with 445hp

Stage one Adds 35 hp to the wheels. According to Terrys dyno on the 2011.

Bmw under rates all their cars. For example the 2011 f10 Terry dynod stock at 392 to the wheels.
After stage 1 It went up to 425.
2014s stock will dyno at 435-440 to the wheels.
Same concept. Under rated.

So again. A stage 1 2014 will make more power than a stage 2 2013.
A 2013 stage 1 doesn't make more power than a stock 2014

Further more. I'll be doing a ecutuning group tune and I will dyno. Like I told u before. So we'll see what that yields. But I would of rather had a stage 2 bms but
That isn't an option at the moment.

That's the reason your car dynod so high with stage one. Because BMW under rates it's factory hp.
How else do u think you made so much power with just a stage 1? 20% loss - 400hp engine to wheels is 80hp. So 320. U made 420+ with stage 1.
Do u think u gained 100++ hp on a Mustang dyno just from a burger stage 1?

Come on bro.

1st of all if you looked at my Dyno you can see that i did a stock base run and then on stage 1 which shows how much power i made.... 2nd of all i ran a 2013 650xi last night and have plenty of video.. so let me upload them up.

Both done on same day same Dyno with in minutes of each other.

Nice. I never saw your dyno. Just your signature hp/tq numbers.
I wonder what it would make just with stage 1 and reg 93 or 91 octane.
