TPMS / valve stem
Ok so I have a TPMS that is starting to fail. TPMS sensor on 1 tire is starting to fail and need to have it replaced. The issue is my valve stem is gun metal in color to match the rims.
Does anyone know if TPMS can be replaced and keep the existing valve stem?? I've called my local TS and they don't know if it is possible and they want to replace both TPMS and stem but no one has it in gun metal. I read on a few forums that the battery is replaceable on TPMS, but people say it's not worth the hassle (and then the trouble of finding a TS willing to do just the battery) |

Tire pressure sensors are two parts bolted together. You could probably use the old stem in the new sensor. It would be better if you could remove the rubber grommets from a new stem and put them on the old stem to make sure it seals.
As far as replacing the battery, it's not worth the trouble and most likely would fail anyway. Photo from 2013 650ix TPS. |
