Run your original wheel/tire combo along with your new wheel/tire combo through this calculator: www.willtheyfit.com

The site above will give you the "poke" (how much the tires will stick out toward the fender) and "inset" (how close the combo will be toward the suspension parts). You can take the data and measure if the new set-up will poke out past your fenders.

Not sure what numbers you used or if you didn't scroll down to see all of the info...but when I run the numbers you gave in the original post...the site does give this info.

In fact, the diagram and the numbers show that you will not get any additional "poke". The 20mm difference in width between your existing and new tires...will basically be negligible (based on the site's calculation)...and if you look at the illustration (of the tire)...the most poke will be just a little bit where the tire tread touches the ground & at the top.

If there were a larger difference...you could see the outline of the original tire illustrated in orange....and the outline of the new tire illustrated in green. But since there won't be any additional poke...all you see in the illustration is the green since it is on top of the orange (in this case).

To get another perspective of how the site can show the difference...just change one of the specs...like change the offset of the new wheel to ET33...then note how this can push the wheel approx 7mm out toward the fender.

Hope this helps resolve any confusion you had about the site and its calculatiions.

QSilver7, your advice is always on target, but I'm not sure you have this one scoped correctly. The rim will not poke, as provided by the website, but the 305 tire, even per the diagram, will have a wider tread and will indeed stick out more than the 285 tire, by an additional 10 mm, or almost 1/2 inch. I believe this is what the OP is asking, and I have to agree with ey2001, based on his photo, that going up to a 305 tire is risky.

You right on point buddy
My wheels are fine not sticking out my concern was Tire
If Tire will stick out
If we talking only 10mm I think I will be ok

I was talking about tire not wheel

Here is another one of my favourite sites for comparing wheel & tire dimensions, which someone around here provided a while back. It provides quite a bit of information too!

Wheel Calculator

You make good points to make things clearer...but in my defense I did mention that the illustration shows some poke at the top and bottom...

I do see the visual info ey2001 posted but I'm left with a unanswered question. It's an incomplete comparison as to what we were looking at...we're shown and know what the image on the right is (a 295/30 20 tire on a 10"x 20 wheel)...but what's the size of the other tire that it is being shown on the left?

Also, the additional 10mm width of the 305mm tire is being stretched over a 10.5" wheel vs ey2001 whose 295mm width tire is stretch onto a 10" wheel. This will also affect the "poke" of the tire.

There's multiple things to consider...hopefully ey2001 can update the thread with the specs of the tire that was on the left.

It's pictures of the same side and the rear wheel.. just wanted to show different angles... but yes you are right 10.5 is little bit wide so it might have a slight stretch but I think he will still rub with 305... my 295/30/20 rubs slightly when I go over speed bumps with passengers in the back...

just out of curiosity since were talking 305's i'm actually replacing my tires this month and for the rear i'm already running 295/25/21 i'm assuming the tire will be slight taller going to a 305 but what would the aspect ratio be? i'm guessing diameter will be a bit larger now?
